Amazing experience, we are already planning on going back!

Trish B (Ladysmith, Virginia, United States) on Nov 08, 2024

We are a family of 4 (kids 7 & 9), visited early November -- the occupancy was low and that meant lots of space, no lines on waterslides. Unfortunately it also meant some of the restaurants were closed, but we didn't mind at all and enjoyed having space at the resort. The rooms were clean and well maintained with nice upgrades - housekeeping and room service were incredibly proactive and responsive. Pros: This place is all encompassing and truly massive. There's always a new nook to explore and tons of space to feel like you have privacy. We stayed in the Royal and loved the centrality of it. Robes are available in rooms (but we did have to ask for them). Staff is incredibly friendly and well-trained in every area of the resort. Attendants around the aquariums were patient and happy to answer questions about the sea life and conservation efforts. Security was top notch and we felt very safe allowing our kids ride slides without us. The Cove beach is a great beach nook for lunch by the water. The gym is beautiful and extremely large and well maintained. Basically brand new, top of the line equipment and a full assortment of cardio choices as well as free weight and cable cross machines. Beds were super comfortable. Cons: Food and drinks are expensive. Like, prepare to spend 3-4x what you typically spend expensive. If you purchase anything from beach vendors just keep in mind that everything is negotiable, so negotiate the price you want on braids, or souvenirs. Recommendations: We saved $ by packing breakfast food, some pre-made sandwiches in soft coolers, snack foods and some bottles of liquor in our checked back. This probably saved us about $400. We enjoyed small bites from the poolside restaurants, a few drinks at the bar and dinners out. The pizza place in the marina is great and a pizza will cost $45, but feed a family of 4 for sure. We enjoyed a date night and used the Kids Adventure center for a Kids Night Out. The kids stayed 4-hours and it cost us $220 and it was absolutely worth it. Had we stayed longer, we would have done this multiple nights. The kids had a blast and begged to go back. To avoid waterslide lines go right when the pools open and then in the late afternoon before they close. Ask about marine life feeding times - they are not posted and they change every day, but most of the employees know the schedule and will happily inform and direct you to watch. We enjoyed the sea turtle feeding, the ray feeding, the saw fish and shark feeding. Note: It was clutch that my 7 year old was 48" - all of the iconic slides require that height and he would have felt very left out. Also, VAT and a 15% tip is included in EVERY transaction - and you will also be prompted to tip on top of that if you want to; just good to know that tip is already included. There are tons of stores and little mini markets sprinkled through the resort --- none of prices are marked, so you have to ask. Don't assume that if two stores carry the same item that they will be the same price. One shirt in one store was $79. In another store I found the exact same shirt for $64. There is a corner market in the Royal by the Poseidon restaurant that sells cans of soda for $2, but the market store just down the hallway sells the same cans for $1.30. I also paid $4.50 for a can of soda in the marina, so just a heads up that there's no one price fits all here. When you check in everyone is given a stainless steel Atlantis water bottle, which was really nice. Filtered water stations are everywhere and it's easy to fill up your water.

awful experience

slr1971 (england) on Nov 06, 2024

What can i say, i was expecting something special at this hotel and all we had were rude staff, outdated rooms, dirty pool areas, overpriced food and an exceptional over priced bill at the end. We would not recommend this hotel or ever visit the Bahamas again. There is not a lot i can say about this hotel except dont stay there.
