We will stay again

lovely622 (Union City, California) on Feb 22, 2025

Stayed here during MLK weekend for friends birthday. We were on the first floor with the bunk bed suite for 5 people. My friend and her daughter loved the bunk bed room. They had their bathroom. The suite ...had 1 set of bunk beds with their own bathroom. They also had a sofabed. Another room had 2 full beds with their own bathroom. Check in was fast and easy. The location is great. It’s probably 15 min walk to the Disney parks.

Poor and unexpected check in experience

mdnicole (Walnut Creek, California) on Feb 07, 2025

Submitted on behalf of my husband: I travel for work every other week so I have a gauge on what to expect from hotels and staff. My family and I arrived at 11:20AM to this hotel and asked to be checked ...in. The hotel receptionist, Anna, went through the normal greetings and said, unfortunately, we could not check-in and to maybe check back at 3:00. This was understandable, since I knew we were early. I told her we would check back. We went to lunch, and I opened the Marriot App and noticed there was an option to check-in online and to give them an hour (1 PM) and the room would be available. We returned from lunch at 1 PM. I waited in line behind two groups of people who were checked-in. I spoke with Anna, but again she said the room was not available and would not be available till 4 PM. I told her I checked-in online and the app said the room would be available. The Supervisor, Juan, who was also at the front deskcame over and said the app was not something they considered when it came to the order of when rooms were going to be cleaned and available. Juan said since our room was one of the larger rooms they offered, it would be last to be cleaned. Juan then said they were a convention center hotel and the app for checking-in online did not apply to them. I asked Juan if he was able to reach out to the hotel cleaning staff and have a room we booked cleaned. He said they were not able to accommodate the request. At this point I asked to speak with a manager and he told me that he was a supervisor. I said, “I would like to speak with management.” Once management was involved there was no issue. The manager had the housekeeping staff clean a room and we were able to get our 2-year-old son a much needed nap after traveling all morning. The hotel, management, and housekeeping were excellent. Unfortunately, the front desk staff who patrons initially deal with (Anna and Juan) were not very accommodating or helpful. Obviously when I travel for work I only concern myself with a clean quiet room. When I am with my family on vacation at a hotel that is there because Disneyland is across the street, I expect them to be more accommodating to the needs of a toddler who needs a nap after traveling. This wasn’t the typical great first impression you expect from a Marriott hotel. Ray Titanium member
