Mixed experience as check-in and room temperature were a real issue

The check-in experience was not great...Valet parking is a mess and you may have to wait very long to get your car back, and once you have it you may have to wait a lot more until the cars in front of you decide to leave.... We arrived at noon and the room was not ready, which is fine. However, they said they would tell housekeeping to do our room asap and they would send us a text message...which had not arrived by 4:15 pm..... The room itself (a corner suite) was ok, but the bathroom looked very old (bathtub worn out). They had put the body lotion instead of the hand-soap... The bed is quite good, but you can barely darken the room as the rollers do not go down completely. The worst feature was the A/C not getting you a temperature below 24 degrees...it was therefore quite difficult to sleep in such a heat. For the rest, the building of course is beautiful and full of history. But the overall experience was mixed.

Expected, and experienced, a comfortable stay with friendly staff. I can't wait to come back. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home. The room has been updated but still retains the charm of the hotel as it was originally built. The art deco pool is a special place, and the health club facilities are modern and well equipped.
