Not prestigious just awful

Gagan G on Aug 08, 2024

My room was dirty, dusty, and my family and I have rashes from the beds, and towels. The washroom was gross not clean at all. The room layout was dis functional. The closet smells as if someone threw up in it. The changes rooms for the gym and pool are just nasty, smell like dirty feet and you feel like you are in a horror movie.

Location, history and that's it

Different B on Aug 08, 2024

One star for the best location in Ottawa, historical land mark. One star for friendly staff and trying to recover from a problem. It should be turned into a museum as it doesn't qualify as a hotel to operate in the 21st century. I have worked and stayed in much older and historically significant hotels, and it doesn't stand in any comparison in terms of cleanliness, customer service, comfort etc. From beginning to end, our four night stay has been mired in problems and bad experiences. Room was not ready even at 5:30 PM on our checkin day. The front desk manager was nice and offered me a free upgrade for the inconvenience - which was nice. AC doesn't work in common areas, everything around you is dirty and/or poorly maintained. Entire hotel smells musty like an old cottage. Check out day - no luggage carts and bell boys were available, and the front desk just casually mentioned that we were on our own and started chitchatting with his colleagues. We were a family of four with two little ones with a bit of luggage - that was pathetic. We booked our stay in March for August directly with Fairmont.
