Enjoyed a quick family getaway for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year’s. Valet parking was full upon arrival but I appreciated the nearby walkable parking recommendations, many of which were half the price or less. The valet kindly helped my family with our luggage in the meantime. Front desk staff were efficient and check in was a breeze. The hotel is beautiful and full of traditional charm, which extended into our well appointed room 228 as well; we enjoyed a wonderful view of Parliament and the Rideau Canal, high ceilings, and plenty of space. Beds were comfortable but a bit creaky. Bathroom had everything you need and plenty of towels. Welcome drink vouchers valued at up to $45 each were a nice touch which we thoroughly enjoyed in the lounge section at Zoe’s. Shout out to Jael who helped us pick out the perfect drinks and mocktails. We forgot to bring toothpaste and it was promptly brought to our room. We also asked for refills of shower gel and conditioner which were quickly brought over as well. Shout out to Michael from housekeeping who kindly offered kid-sized bathrobes to my children as we were heading down to the pool (he noticed that one of them was cold). The saltwater pool is adequate but needs some maintenance; peeling paint, water damage in the ceiling, and salt stains throughout dampened the experience a bit. It was nice to see a lifeguard on duty. The health club is well equipped and the treadmills were always available when I needed them. Grabbed breakfast at Cafe Laurier one morning and was left standing for a while after paying for my order while the team members chatted away. After some time, one of them asked if I was waiting for something. I said I was still waiting on the coffee I ordered. They had forgotten to make it even though there weren’t many customers at all. Not a big deal, and they offered to bring it to my table which only took a few more minutes. Elevators were plentiful but we often chose to take the stairs which still retain their historic flair. I requested late checkout and it was confirmed on the spot. Would happily stay at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier again. My young son says it is his favourite hotel because of the ‘exquisite touches and exotic lights’. Also wanted to mention that I originally booked for 5 nights but had to change to 3 at the last minute and they thankfully honoured my rate even though it would mean less revenue. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

Great stay at the fairmont as usual. Upgraded to the gold level which was totally worth it. Great breakfast, afternoon appies and deserts. The pool was nice but wish they had a steam room. The food was great and the location is perfect near parliament. Lots to do and lots of places to explore.
