Worst vacation ever

Cheryl V on Sep 08, 2024

This place looks nothing like the pictures on website. It was dirty, hot. The ac wasn’t working. Pools closed @ 6. We supposedly upgraded to an oceanfront room….. the vents were rusty the paint chipped cracked. The room was gross and very tiny. Not very secure with a crappy old key lock and weak little chain on a door that you could easily see the outside when it was closed ?? The food was virtually inedible- not to mention the birds that were eating and sitting in some of it and there were cockroaches and bugs everywhere- Although I understand bugs happen it was gross. The other resort we went to at least sprayed for the bugs. Would never return to this place nor would I recommend it to anyone. It was so bad that if we hadn’t been able to switch resorts we would have gone home instead.

Third time here

Consider this is a budget resort, nevertheless I consider it awesome. The rooms are dated but clean and comfortable, if you want luxury, consider another resort that for sure will cost you at least double the price. Nevertheless, we were only in the room to sleep so it doesn't matter for us. On the outside, the hotel is colorful and beautiful with big trees and gardens even iguanas running around. The food is hit and miss but we always found something we could enjoy, the guacamole is awesome but it can run out quickly and it was always refilled but it might take 5 minutes. There are 2 buffets and also a snack bar. The bars are awesome, the servers are always kind and the drinks taste good, again, this is not a luxury hotel, if you want Don Julio or Moet, book at another resort. Beach, the beach is beautiful and you can swim. But you can also see many stingrays so be careful. There are many vendors that can be annoying but in Mexico, beaches are not private, so locals do not need permission to roam there, but they are generally respectful. The staff has a fair English, but remember you're at a foreign country so don't be entitled. The staff is great and not driven by tips.

Very disappointed and frustrated

Sue G on Jun 21, 2024

I came here with my Father for a special trip, he is 84 years old with some hearing difficulties and while he can walk, his mobility is slower than in the past. We booked through Westjet vacations and requested adjoining rooms at the time of booking. We were told it wasn't guaranteed, but they would do what they could. Understand that completely. When we checked in, we were given rooms on the same floor, with one between us. Not so bad. We booked Oceanfront because I was told they have a minibar that is restocked daily. Not the case. Yes, there is a fridge, but zero stocking and you get one bottle of water left in the bathroom. I was told they do not stock the fridge at all. I was also promised guaranteed wifi in our rooms (those are the two reasons I upgraded us to oceanfront as I am working from here as well). When we arrived we were only given the main wifi areas (two spots). Luckily the wifi works sometimes in the rooms and I have a good cellphone plan which allows me to create a hotspot from my phone to my laptop. There is one electrical outlet in the room that I can reach, gladly I thought ahead and brought my own extension cord and power bar so I am able to plug in my laptop and my portable monitor which are essential to my job. While the exterior of the resort is quite pretty and colourful, the interior of the rooms is extremely dated. I can live with that. The first morning when we went to the buffet for breakfast, it was abysmal however it has improved since. Lunch and dinner are OK. Nothing to write home about, but it's passable. What I find very disappointing is that three separate times I have asked to move rooms so that I can share a balcony with my Dad instead of having to call each other on the very old telephones or try to yell at each other from 25 feet away. Each time I have been told that the room is not available, despite having seen 3 different people staying in that room since we have been here. I understand it was taken when we arrived, but I spoke to them and they were leaving the next day. Unavailable. Two days later another family checked in. They have left and today I asked again, it is unavailable (despite being empty again right now). No minibar in room that is stocked daily? I can live with that, I walked to the Chedraui a few blocks away and stocked my own with beer and soft drinks. No service on the beach? I can live with that, I simply park my Dad in his seat, myself and mine and walk to the bar to replenish as necessary. Only one bar open at night? No biggie, I can walk to the other. But the lack of understanding when I tried to explain that we simply want a room where our balconies are next to each other when clearly the other rooms weren't being used is a problem for me. On a positive note, the oceanfront rooms are well worth the upgrade if you love seeing the ocean and hearing the waves come crashing in. I also got a bathroom mirror this week! I couldn't believe that I didn't have one before but I do now! The staff in the restaurants and bars are extremely friendly, and really seem to want to make your stay and experience a good one. Overall, at this point, I am disappointed and frustrated. I wish I had not taken a chance on this resort and gone with one of the proven ones with great buffets and stocked minibars that we have stayed at in the past. My fault for sure, but trying to find some positives LOL. I got a bathroom mirror and the Chedraui is only about a five minute walk.

Not the greatest value for your dollar

Not impressed with this place. We knew it was older - the food was absolutely terrible and we aren't picky eaters. The beds were okay - pillows were super hard. no one comes around to serve drinks - which was disappointing - as we had to constantly get out of the pool.

Don’t sit on the beach.

Michele J on May 20, 2024

Scene and Mexican hotel is beautiful. Beds are comfortable. Gabriel in the sports bar is wonderful and always has a drink for you. Food is not so good Hotel associates with criminal merchants from the Hut on the beach which is attached to the resort. Do not sit on the beach, our phones and personal belongings were pinged to the Hut. Not worth your visit.
