Another great visit!

queenofhearts7 (Medicine Hat, Canada) on Jan 03, 2025

This was our 4th trip to PTV, staying at the GRC and had another great time. We joined 7 other friends and enjoyed our time together. Honestly I don’t know why guest have left such negative reviews, that’s sad to read. We emailed and asked to be in block 5 and got our room there. Perfect! Our room was dated yes but very spacious and clean, we would have breakfast and go back to find the maid had been there and gone by 9:30, every morning. And yes we got 2 bottles of water every day! Perfect! We were by the adult pool and bar where we spent most of the afternoons. We met so many friendly fellow Canadians, it was awesome. Meeting up for drinks after dinner was a highlight for us all as we drank and laughed the nights away. We never had any issue getting reservations at the al la carte’s, 2 from our group would reserve for all 9 of us, not on their website but by going to the lobby and getting the reservations. It was easy & fast! Food was very good, no complaints at all! Breakfast was exceptional, omelettes, bacon, fruit, cheese if chocolate buns, Perfect! We enjoyed the beach most mornings, it was a great walk to see the many dolphins and whales in the bay! There are changes happening throughout the resort which is nice to see, again I don’t why guests are complaining. Just go and enjoy your time away!

Fourth time here, many changes

Isaias G on Dec 29, 2024

Its becoming a habit to come to this complex every December with my girlfriend and we saw some changes. Now the normal metal keys have been swapped for card keys, in our opinion we preferred the old one because we could just hang them around the neck and even swim without worrying to damage them, regardless it was the first sign of "Improvement". Now the rooms are equipped with a minifridge, of course empty, but it was nice. The rooms are dated but the AC is functioning perfectly, and the best part was that they added a charge free safe (they used to charge for the service). Its a digital safe with enough room for a laptop and stuff. But the room still lacked an iron and ironing board. For some reason, they thought that painting the resort white was a good Idea, when its vibrant colors was the reason many of us felt it like a cheerful and beautiful place ! and saw a general tendency to repaint many areas with dull and boring colors. Despite that the service, amenities, and food are great (Desserts need a little work and there was no ice cream during our stay), all the personal is amazingly kind, the resort is big with enough pools, bars and clean bathrooms. And restaurants like flamingos have an amazing beach view. The beach is so beautiful and safe, and the resort is just 10 minutes walking from Bucerias, you can also take the local bus "Compostella" to Sayulita Pueblo magico and guayabitos, we took a tour there at guayabitos beach to whale watch. Of course I will come again god willing next december , and I recommend it. Its an awesome and budget friendly hotel, people here complain a lot should got to other resorts where they will pay at least 50% more.

A wonderful stay for our Family!

Allison H on Dec 27, 2024

Rooms are dated but the a/c works like a champ, beds and pillows are pretty decent and the water pressure in the shower was great! The staff is all incredibly kind, friendly and helpful! If you have an issue, they don't just ignore it, they tend to it right away. The housekeeping did a great job and the groundskeepers kept the entire resort so neat and clean. Food wasn't gourmet but we didn't starve! They have a snack bar from 11am-5pm that was a saving grace for our Son! They serve chicken nuggets, burgers, fries, hot dogs and pizza. They have a second snack bar from 11pm-1am where they serve hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and a few other options. We absolutely recommend this resort!

good vacation, not perfect

ElissaClaire (North Vancouver, Canada) on Dec 22, 2024

I stayed at the Grand Decameron Complex Dec 1-8, with a package booked thru Air Canada Vacations. I have stayed at this resort 16 times prior to this trip, and it was my second return since Covid to spend my birthday there. I opted to take a taxi from the airport to resort instead of the included shuttle to speed up my arrival. Let the AC rep know, and then they walked me to a taxi. Cost $540 pesos to the resort plus tip. Arrived to check in around 5:30pm. A few others checking in around that time from the WestJet flight that arrived earlier. I had emailed ahead of time to ask for a room in building 5 and mentioned it would be my 17th stay at the resort. That email was replied to almost immediately, and they noted would do their best. Upon arrival reception gave me a room in building 3. I mentioned asking for a room in building 5 and that I am a repeat guest. She said they are full and I could come to the front desk the next morning to request to change rooms. Oddly enough, there were others checking in at the same time given rooms in building 5 that did not want to be in that building, but they wouldn’t allow me to change their assigned room. I retuned to the front desk around 8:30am the next morning to ask to change a room, and was told no, and to try again the next morning. This same experience happened again the 2nd morning. I gave up as only there for 1 week and just wanted to unpack and feel settled. Not impressed that I heard at least a dozen others say they were able to change rooms the next day after arrival, even those who were new to staying here, yet they didn’t care about considering my request, and didn’t make me feel appreciated nor valued as a repeat guest on my 17th stay at this resort. It was a firm no, nothing to move you to and didn’t seem to care. Let me start by saying that room 3421 is NOISY. The walkway/hallway to the entrance door backs onto the delivery driveway behind the buffet at building 4 and the noise starts around 4:45am. Everyday. Everyday! The room was clean, towels provided, and great quiet air conditioning. A king bed. There are also birds squealing out the balcony area, but they stop around 9:30pm. Very very firm new mattress, which by the 2nd morning after realizing they would not change my room I left a note in Spanish asking for a mattress foam topper. Shower head had been updated to a square rainfall shower, but only maybe 15% of the spray nozzles worked, still able to shower but not as impacting as it looks. Always had ample warm water using only the hot tap, sometimes hot water, but never used the cold tab. I noticed all the restrooms on the resort were well supplied and clean. They even added a hook on the back of almost all the washroom doors since my last stay, which is great. Aside from disrupted sleep from a noisy room location that I was not allowed to change, I otherwise had a good vacation. Annoyed, yes, don’t like going home from vacation exhausted from doing almost nothing. Good quality sleep is valued on vacation. Overall, the servers at the buffets were top notch. Amazing attentiveness. They’ve been good in the past, but they were GREAT. Worked in teams of 2 I believe, and were getting drinks, clearing dishes instantly and keeping their tabs clean. Friendly, smiling. This is all buffets as I rotated around which I used for most meals. Buffet salad bars had a lovely variety. Always found a protein I enjoyed. Don’t have to like everything at a buffet, just enough and I was satisfied with the buffets. I did do Piccolo once, but preferred the variety from the buffets and not having to live by a watch for dinner times. I was obviously up early enough each morning to have easily made a dinner reservation, but chose not to. There are signs around the resort saying you cannot save chairs and if not there for 60 minutes your items will be removed. That never happened at the pool at building 5. I was out there every day by 8:30am using my chair, relaxing and reading and floating. People would put items on several chairs earlier and sometimes not come back until lunch or later in the day. Nobody removed their items so others could use those chairs. I spoke with some guests who openly said they saved chairs at the pool and beach daily. Wifi worked well in the lobby, I didn’t need it more often then when walking by so worked for my needs. Others commented about lack of wifi in their rooms, maybe the resort will update it soon. Since my last stay, they added mini fridges to the rooms (albeit empty), and code-type electronic safes in the rooms. My room also had an key card, no longer a key around your neck. However, I did see serval guests whose rooms still had the old key system. If you would like your air mattress inflated, go to the gift shop at building 4 lobby, and they’ll do it for you for 20 pesos. If you are needing small pesos bills for tipping, you can ask the bartenders and/or servers later in their shifts. Overall a good vacation because I chose it to be. Went home relaxed from chilling and reading all week, had 4 massages, but would have appreciated if I could move rooms like many others so that I could get a decent night’s sleep on vacation. This resort attracts a generally kind, not pretentious but down to earth, friendly group of vacationers. I enjoy the proximity to Bucerias.

A fantastic vacation at the Grand Decameron Complex

Veronica L (Chemainus, Canada) on Dec 20, 2024

We just returned home after 4 fabulous weeks at the Grand Decameron Complex and cannot wait to return!!! There were many upgrades this past month such as new patio furniture, new dressers and end tables and the food although we have never had an issue with it was excellent. There are two amazing ladies that we would like to thank for always making our vacation so enjoyable and looking after us so well. I call them the “Dream Team” as they work so well together to ensure that their customers have an excellent vacation. These two wonderful ladies are Yadira Ricardo, the Front Desk Manager and Karina Pasternan, the Guest Services Manager. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you both! You lovely ladies are simply the best and there are just not enough words to describe how much we appreciated everything that you have done for us. Te amo amigas!!! We would also like to thank our fantastic housekeeper Marisa Cuevas who is like a member of our family. Muchas gracias for the beautiful towel art, for my birthday cake, the flowers and the amazing decorations in our room Marisa. We love you so much!!! Thanks also for the superb service in Piccalo from Omar and Anselmo. Muchas gracias amigos!!! Thank you to Hector, Jenny, Erick, Maria, Ilise, the three Marisols and all of the wonderful servers in the Tropical and Flamigos buffets. A huge thank you to our awesome bartenders Javier, Alexandra, Maby, Yaneli, Ruth, Gabriel, Angel, Naomi and the fabulous bartenders who looked after us for those 4 weeks. This hotel is not a five start but the staff at this resort are definitely out of this world amazing. It has been a pleasure to be with you all again and look forward to seeing you all next year! Feliz Navidad to all of you and your families. Veronica and Pedro
