Needs improvement

T5343KJdavek on Apr 19, 2025

This was my wife and I 7th time going. The staff is great the resort itself is in need of upgrades and maintenance. The food unfortunately was probably the worst it has been. The assortment is poor and it ...was cold. We went to the restaurants in town for dinner each night. The location of the resort is great in regards to walking into Bucerious.

Average Place

Sunworshiper54 (Burnaby, BC, Canada) on Apr 18, 2025

This All Inclusive has been taken over by Wyndham. Nothing too fancy but the pools and beach made up for it. They are painting over all the bright vibrant colors to a bland beige with terracotta trim which... is a shame. We weren't told about about the renos they were doing (roofing etc.) so it was noisy at times. Rooms and bathrooms could use major upgrades. Tiles in showers are very slippery and showers need grab bars. They need hooks in the bathrooms and more places to hang wet clothes. Housekeeping was average and not always thorough. As far as I know, only one building has an elevator. The first room we were given was in a three story building on the 3rd floor with no elevator! I couldn't manage the stairs as I have one bad knee. We requested a ground floor room and were moved on the 3rd day we were there. The lampshade on the lamp on the bedside table in the second room didn't fit the lamp. Housekeeping took it away one day and never replaced it! It took 3 complaints to finally get a proper lampshade. Lighting is pretty poor if you want to read at night. Phone in room stopped working and they did send someone in to fix it the same day. It stopped working again two days before we left. Food was okay at the buffets but was hit and miss and not always hot. Nothing too special about the restaurants if you could get a reservation! We tried all but one and couldn't get into the Italian as it was always booked solid! We didn't go to the nightly shows as they started at 9:30. Not a great location as you had to take cabs or Uber to get anywhere. We wouldn't go back here.

Nice place. Good price

0155 (Thunder Bay District, Canada) on Apr 16, 2025

Not a five star but a solid three star for sure! Stayed one week in room 3205. Comfortable king bed with several pillows. Nice balcony with chairs and table. Nice view of pool and partial view of ocean. ...Fast efficient check in. Our safe was locked when we arrived and someone came within minutes to unlock it for us. Very impressed with upkeep of property and overall cleanliness. After a brief self tour of the resort, we showed up at the Mexican restaurant at about 6 and were able to get a table with no reservation. Good basic food and great service. Our room was clean and the furniture definitely outdated. Could use shelves in closet as drawers in dresser would fall out when you opened them so not convenient. Bathroom with waterfall shower head. Plain single seat vanity with older wood frame mirror. Bar soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. Only 3 plug ins in whole room. One at bathroom counter and one behind dresser (for tv and fridge). One behind head of bed which we unplugged bedside lamps from to plug in our phone charger. There is a tall lamp in the room which is pretty useless as there is no place to plug it in. Would suggest resort invest in an extension cord/usb plug in which we have see.ln in other hotels. We had no problem booking our Ala carte meals at @8 am each morning. Quick and easy. We had Airalo e-Sim so we had data in our room. We ate at all 5 a la carte. Food was tasty with a good selection. Great service in all 5. The JapJap and Wok restaurants share an entrance. There is no signage to indicate names of restaurant. The hostess ended up yelling to the queue at the sitting to split into 2 lines, one for each restaurant. The hostess is a bit of a “drill seargant”. Would be nicer to go have clearer signage so people would know which queue to get into to avoid confusion. Also at the Jap Jap I noted a bit of an unsafe food practice. They bring around the various food dishes and spoon the food onto your plate while you are eating. I noted that the serving spoon which touched my plate while I was eating was then used to serve others and touch their plates. A used plate should be considered potentially contaminated with persons own saliva and a serving utensil should never touch in use plates and then touch others. (Same reason any you don’t reuse your plate for a return to a buffet). Both buffets had a lot of variety of tasty food. Seemed to always be topped up. Would suggest little signs for really spicy/hot food. I had a nasty surprise with guacamole that was laced with jalapeños at one buffet. Lots of great entertainment near lobby bar area and at the theatre. . Talented staff and entertainers. We were impressed with how many people we met who had stayed at the resort multiple times and keep coming back. Overall a great stay at a reasonable price point.

Fabulous vacation for a great price

Sightseer52698807452 (Canada) on Apr 15, 2025

We have travelled all over Mexico and the Caribbean and can honestly say this place was great value for the price. Yes, the rooms are basic but we had everything we needed .. comfy bed, mini fridge, great ...water pressure, hot water, and great maid service! The pillows are hard. We stayed in Block four, room 4120. It is on ground floor close to the lobby and flamingos buffet. There is tons of choices at the buffet .. fantastic omelettes or eggs how you like, French toast, cottage cheese, fruit, sausage, potatoes, delicious soups, fresh fish, pork loin, beef, rice, a salad bar, etc..there is something for everyone. It is a big resort with 5 a la cartes and multiple pools but it easy to get around and doesn’t feel big. Wifi works in the lobbies and lounge areas. Our favorite restaurants were the Asian, Mediterranean and Mexican. Just go to the lobby at 7:55 am, download the QR code and select your restaurant and time …easy-peasy. Take a picture of your confirmed reservation just in case. The only complaint is the saved pool chairs. Everything is gone by 7 am which is irritating. For what we paid for an all inclusive, we were are super happy. The staff work so hard, are very friendly and the grounds maintained beautifully. Don’t expect a 5-star luxury resort and you will have a fantastic time!!

Disappointed

Henry L on Apr 14, 2025

This resort boasts a 4 star accommodation and truly is a 2 at best. The food in the buffet restaurants was not only cold and not kept on top of. I found that the food was not very good in these restaurants.... Trays were empty and the selection was limited. Rooms don’t have WI-FI connect ability. You had to go to certain places in the resort to connect. Once on the WI-FI I was not able to connect to the internet anyway. Rooms are dated and are in need of updating. On day three the safe in my room wouldn’t open and when I went to the front desk the staff acted like they didn’t care. After a few minutes of voicing my dis satisfaction I was told that they would make an exception and get someone to help me before 10am when they normally would take care of safe issues. The service in and around the pools was non existent. No one was coming around serving drinks. You had to go get your own drinks. So in and out of the pool all day. The only good thing about this resort was two of the a la cart restaurants being the Brazilian BBQ restaurant and the Italian restaurant where the food was amazing!
