The Catalonia Hotel resort was absolutely incredible! Can't tell which was better, the amenities or the amazing staff! Everything was beautiful and the staff was more than happy to help make our experience magnificent. This will definitely be one of my favorite travel spots!
Worst hotel visited in the 30 plus years of travel

Worst hotel we’ve visited in the last 30 years of travelling Upgraded to privileged so expected a nice updated room. How wrong could I be. It was poorly renovated but the queen size bed was comfortable. After a couple of days one sink would not drain properly and leaked all over the counter top and floor. Maintenance repaired it but left the bathroom filthy and the floor was covered in dirty water. The following day the toilet would not drain. Reported it and was told someone would come within 15 minutes to sort it. After 3 hours at 8pm, and 3 calls to Reception, each time being told ‘15 minutes’ I went in person. The girl on Reception told me ‘I would have to wait’. Her colleague realised I was not happy and looked at what other rooms they had available. We were offered a room with 2 smaller beds and agreed to move. At least the toilet flushed! We found the beds very uncomfortable. The room was very damp so our clothes felt wet. The mirrors were constantly misted over. The shower screen wasn’t sealed so water went all over the floor when we showered. Dirty towels were taken away by the maid but no replacements left so someone else to chase up. The main buffet restaurant was more like a school canteen. A lot of locals were there the first weekend, if you spoke Spanish you could get whatever you needed. English guests were ignored or treated disrespectfully. We had cutlery thrown on the table on one occasion. The themed restaurants were very good and the staff were lovely. The restaurant by the pool is far nicer for breakfast/lunch and the staff very nice. My husband is coeliac and found very little gluten free food. After speaking to a couple of the chefs, they offered to cook fresh stir fries with rice noodles and found gf bread buns and muffins. Every other hotel we have been to has had a gf section to avoid cross contamination and a separate toaster. We had a lot of rain and found there were leaks from the roof in the bar areas so the chairs were damp. The toilet roofs also leaked. We would definitely not return to this hotel.
