Worst afternoon tea here

Divine L on Jul 12, 2024

Four of us went there for afternoon tea yesterday to celebrate our daughter’s 16th birthday. The tea and pastries are below average. The vase on the table was super dirty. Our table was next to a window where the side of the window was with incomplete patch work (white patchwork on blue trim). Overall a very disappointing experience. I would say it is the worst afternoon tea we have ever had. The service was good. Hence i am giving a two star because of the good service.

Disappointing

EdRockster (Mebane, North Carolina) on Jul 12, 2024

For many years, I have wanted to stay at the Chateau Frontenac. My first visit to Quebec City, we stayed a short distance from the walled city. My second we stayed just outside the wall. For my third, my husband decided we would splurge and stay at the cream of the crop—or so we thought. To be honest, the entire experience was disappointing. And terribly expensive. We booked a deluxe queen room with a river front view. We were excited when we arrived early and only slightly disappointed to find our room was not ready. No problem. QC. Sites to see. We grabbed a late lunch at a little eatery mentioned in the Three Pines books. A lovely experience. We walked back to the hotel in the rain and waited. And waited. They had guaranteed our room to be ready by 4:00. So around 3:50, we decided to check. They had lost us in the system, but our room had been ready for some time. We found our room and opened the door with great expectation. It was tiny. The bathroom was cramped, but the room was nicely decorated. But we found it had a wet-dog-smell, and some of the lights simply did not work. Outlets were limited, and as a CPAP user, I had to make hard choices. At one point it sounded as if someone were using a manual saw in the next room. There were 4 tissues in the bathroom. The “complementary” WiFi was utter crap. I guess that’s the way to get you to upgrade for nearly $40. For the price we paid, this was all rather unexpected. Service from the bell and valet team were excellent,
