Great Long Weekend at the Château!

Sightsee20376419419 (Toronto, Canada) on May 19, 2025

Came to stay at the château Frontenac for the long weekend, with the family. The space is beautiful. The room we stayed in was comfortable - the beds felt luxurious! However, there was a strong smell of mi...ldew in the bathroom. It was overpowering and took away from that ‘luxury’ feeling. The staff throughout the hotel are 5/5 : kind, helpful, accommodating to children. It really is a family-friendly space. The kids loved the scavenger hunt. It rained for most of the weekend, but they were more than entertained by the pool. The chateau’s location is excellent - centrally located to everything! Minutes away from Basse-Ville, Quartier Petit Champlain, accessible by stairs. If you have mobility /accessibility issues you can use the funiculaire, however they take cash only! Minutes away from Haute-ville also. Loved that everything was walkable. Last point is on the hotel restaurants. Had a chance to dine at Place Dufferin for breakfast and Sam Le Bistro for dinner. Both places were over-priced and the food was ‘just ok’ (the wait staff are always lovely.) However I feel the same way about the restaurants at the Royal York in Toronto, so this is probably a Fairmont thing.

Beautiful place that you will share with cruise tourists

Guide48528136846 on May 17, 2025

This is a stunning hotel, however it is overrun with tourists from cruise ships. As a guest of the hotel it is hard to enjoy the splendor of the place as all tourists inundate the hotel. The hotel should... be limited to paying hotel or restaurant guests ( the policy of most )
