Superb friendly, safe, clean hotel, feels much more than 3 star.

Have stayed here before but not for quite a few years. Rum punch on arrival was lovely, thank you! The staff really make your stay, very friendly and polite. Some have really great personalities and go ou...t of their way to interact with guests. They are a credit to the hotel. We booked an ocean view room and the view was perfect. Twin beds, lovely bed linen and big soft pillows. Toiletries provided and decent hot shower. Really good aircon. Booked room only as there were plenty of options to eat locally or at the hotel, or even make a quick coffee and breakfast in your room. Small kitchen area which was sufficient for us. Very limited crockery etc, but not an issue. 2 glass tumblers, 2 cups, 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 sets of cutlery. A couple of wine glasses would be a really nice touch though please. The friendly room staff washed or cups and glasses each day too. Loads of sun beds and shade, either on beach or by pool. Happy hour at Captain Charlie’s , or Cocos, every day 12/2 and 5/7. Beer, wine, rum punch, local spirits all 2-4-1. The red wine was perfectly drinkable. Plus in their gift shop we saw bottles of wine for BBD30. Very reasonable. Got the bus to the gap ( stops right outside hotel.) Had breakfast there at Happy Days, totally recommend! Ate at Jakes, across the road, the blackened mahi mahi was good. They can even deliver food to your room. Pizzas at hotel were good. However, in general I found the menu a bit limited. The tap water is drinkable so no issues with ice in drinks. We had a top floor room ( as requested) which was up 3 flights of stairs ( no problem for us) and we’ll worth it for the view. We met people with mobility issues who had rooms on ground floor, pool level. Still good sea views. Literally 8 steps from pool level to beach and Charlie’s bar and a couple of steps up to the restaurant. Staff are constantly making everywhere look nice clean and tidy. They do a great job, the grounds and whole property are immaculate. They start as soon as it’s light and continue till very late. Saw monkeys early morning a couple of days, and there’s a sweet ginger cat ( tigger) that hangs around the pool area ( please bring him cat treats!) Pretty good entertainment every day too! Quiz night, live music, steel band etc. oh and music by pool or at the bar was very good, never too loud. Reviews mention noise from road ( beeping buses and taxis?) we never found this an issue. The sound of the sea muffled any road noise! Lovely reception ladies changed USD to BBD for us which was very handy for tips and buses etc. Also arranged airport transfers for us which we found very convenient. Been here before, wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.
Poor happy hours drinks availability

Cons. Enjoyed it better the first stay. No complimentary rum punch in room. No fruit and cereals table to help yourself at breakfast. Poor choice of happy hour drinks. Very expensive meals and drinks. Requ...ested a extra orange juice at breakfast and was informed I would be charged despite the both of us not wanting a tea or coffee. Requested a room in the block furthest from the pool and was given one right by the pool. The room itself was very dated and requires a total refit. Pros. View from the room was superb. Most staff were very good.
Perfect location in quality, quiet, friendly beachside hotel with full services and kitchenettes.

Very well kept, comfortable ocean front mid-range hotel with a relaxed, quiet, friendly vibe. It is less than 200 rooms, I believe, the perfect size to offer a wide range of services but with a friendly pe...rsonal touch. Everything at the hotel was in excellent condition. The focus on cleanliness and quality was evident from the rooms, pools, beach, and food. You never come across a towel, sheet, chair, etc, that should be replaced. They are really on top of things and use high-quality solid wood furnishings and quality tiles and patio furniture. The hotel rooms are all ocean facing, with a lovely pool and very large pool deck and very large private beach with plenty of loungers, room to spread out and shade or sun. The tour desk is very convenient for booking a wide range of tours. Charlie's beach side bar has a very relaxed vibe. The dining room has a high level of service, and though buffet style is not self-serve, more elevated buffet with them serving you. The kitchenette in the room is perfect for a lite breakfast, lunch, and/or snack. Not all rooms have coffee makers, but do have a kettle, fridge, microwave, sink, but no kitchen linens, soap, etc, are provided, and very minimal dishes, we brought those items with us. A real plus is that you can drink the tap water in Barbados. A downside of the hotel is it is not accessible for those with mobility issues as no elevators and lots of stairs, even down to the beach. The hotel is located in a very walkable area to restaurants, bars, shops, more beaches, ocean boardwalk, local buses, taxis, grocery stores, and drug stores. Suitable for good walkers who can deal with uneven sidewalks and think nothing of 30 minutes to walk to a grocery store, though many restaurants within 5 minutes. We would definitely return!
Nice hotel

Good points. Comfy beds rooms nice lovely sea views. Nice air con. Beach nice kept in nice condition. Hadfield really nice guy. Charnel lovely girl. Bad points. Road noise, Staff can be abrupt to the poi...nt of being rude. sat in Charlie’s bar waiting while staff just talked to each other, drinks sat on bar waiting for someone who could be bothered to bring them to you. Food on Caribbean night poor quality only chicken drumsticks or small quarter given for jerk chicken. Mean portions. Again abrupt staff. Desert was a joke the tiniest piece of banana cake and a small plastic cup of fruit cocktail that you could buy in aldi. Over complicated ordering 1 visit or 2 visit for food then double the price. No need. Small portions of rice, cold pasta and salad, 2 small fried banana slices. (Joke) They need to take a leaf out of the sipping room’s for food and lovely staff. But again Linda lampkin will respond with I’m sorry for your issues like she always does, knowing really they couldn’t really be bothered…. Resort hotel guests in guests out……. Could be so much better. Checking out. Staff member annoyed she had to count out the US dollars on settling the bill on the counter made me feel so uncomfortable. It’s not needed.
Great views, beach and family feel

Rooms were clean and spacious. Amazing views from the balcony. Never had to fight for a beach chair which is an added benefit. Many food options within walking distance although the sidewalks are a little ...sketchy. Bus stop right across the street though for easy access. Owner and son were always on site to welcome you, ask how your stay is which made you feel at home. Only downside, not for us, but should be noted, there are only stairs to access upper level rooms and the beach if you aren't on the ground floor. We would definitely stay there again!!
