Swimming Very bad layout of the beach that causes much higher waves comparing to other beaches in the same area.We had to drive somewhere else just to be able to swim in the ocean The best resort beach location is allocated to members only and it’s almost empty all the time. All main beach amenities - towels distribution, pizza restaurant are close to it, and all other guests need to walk distances to get to their area The front rows of the pool are also for members only, and they just stay there mostly empty. Other guests have to take rows further to the back, which provides a very unsatisfactory experience. They always run out of towels pretty fast For some reason you cannot take a beach umbrella before 10 am, though at 9 am the UV index is already high The beach sand is hard to walk on. If you are thinking about walking or running along the shore in the morning, it will be challenging there. We had no such problem in other resorts. Restaurants. Most of the restaurants take reservations from the members only, all others are served on the first come first serve basis. The result is that there is always a waiting list of 20+people which is very inconvenient The food variety is very low, especially in the all you can eat buffet Frida. Quite often it’s practically impossible to have a normal dinner there. Lobby The whole main lobby is extremely loud, there is music non stop, therefore it’s impossible to spend much time there The furniture in the lobby is dated and treated with some very strong aromatizators. People with sensitivity to smells can find it very disturbing Check in The check in process was very unprofessional, it took us 2 days to get the room that we ordered. The staff tried to push a twice smaller room on us and claim that it’s of the same value. Only after some pressure they gave us the right one Pay attention to the forms they ask you to sign during checkin - some of them and very obscure and non common Travel agencies Unlike in all other hotels we visited, the travel agencies reps are never present there. The stuff is clueless about their schedule, and you need to figure out your pickup time, excursions, etc.. all by yourself. Our return flight got delayed and we had to spend numerous hours on the phone instead of just approaching the representative on site The room The jacuzzi in the room is presented as a selling point, but it is quite useless for 2 reasons: The layout of the jacuzzi does not allow to lie down, you can only sit there, it leaves the upper body above the water. Also,after 5-10 minutes of operation , the room gets very foggy and humid, the floor becomes slippery. Due to the high humidity in Cancun, you cannot open the window to make the humidity go away Many things feel outdated - for example, they still use acres keys that you have to carry with you all the time. The tap does not fit the sink well, it’s hard to wash hands there The air conditioner vent is not adjustable, the cold air always blows directly to the bed Membership When you approach any stuff member about anything, they always bring up this membership selling session, and it takes time to let them drop it without being rude. They do not take no for an answer and keep pushing ?? The whole membership thing causes the guests to feel that they are treated as second class guests, which is not what you expect after paying such a high rate. It feels like the hotel management in intentionally trying to spoil your experience to force you into membership To summarize, this was one of the most expensive hotels we rented, but the whole experience was one of the worst. We will never even consider going back there There are some positive things too ( the rooms are clean, the stuff if generally nice, the entertainment program is good), but unfortunately the whole experience is much below the advertised resort class and does not justify the high price.
Hard Rock Cancun

The hotel was very outdated and small. The restaurants ala carte were difficult to get in for the evening time due to the small size of the resort. This would make the buffet very busy and the staff could not stock the food fast enough. We were able to eat at the Toro restaurant but the food was not very appetizing. I had to return my steak due to being rare and had ordered well done. The presentation of the food was not appealing either. My daughter’s food was also very salty and had to order another meal. We also had an incident the last day of our check out date. We had an early morning check out at 3 am and while our daughters were getting ready to leave the room an intoxicated guest entered their room. My oldest daughter was able to get the intoxicated woman out to the hallway and got me. The guest was asleep sitting next to our daughter’s room. We went downstairs and let the front desk aware of the incident while we were checking out. In all the times we have traveled and stayed at other Hard Rock and hotels have never had an incident like that happen to us. The best part of the hotel was the staff and the beach. The staff there were extremely helpful and nice and made our stay great. Staff members that were phenomenal were Willy at the bar, Ivan from the beach, Mercedes from Frida and Ale Berrios from vacation planners and Gala. These staff members were so helpful and wonderful. The beach is beautiful there and has been the best one our family has ever been to. The hotel also had great vibe and shows for entertainment. Overall our stay was good and just needs some adjustments and improvements.
