Amazing Service from Freda at Hilton Waikoloa Village!

We had such a wonderful stay at Hilton Waikoloa Village, all thanks to Freda at the front desk. She kindly upgraded our room for a birthday celebration and even offered us a complimentary birthday drink — ...such a thoughtful surprise! Her warm and caring service made our vacation truly special. Thank you, Freda, for helping us create such great memories!

The resort is amazing! It has everything for a great family vacation, restaurants, pools, lagoon, dolphin quest and walking paths around the property with access to hiking and beaches. The Luau was amazing...! The property is immaculate and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Just Go!

Beautiful resort. It’s sizable (1.1 miles round trip I think), but has pockets that make it feel small (a really good thing). Love the outdoor museum that’s most of the walk around the building. Lots of P...acific Islander and Asian culture to see. We went on an adventure to find the hidden adult only pool in one courtyard. We found it just after sunset and it was magic! With palms trees and birds singing, the moon overhead and a delightful breeze, it was relaxing and peaceful. And the pool was wonderfully quiet. It was begging for a moonlight yoga session, so we did ?? The grounds were well maintained. Towel service was easy. The only drawback was not having enough shaded poolside seating (that didn’t cost hundreds of dollars an hour).

So close to being amazing...

This one is a tough review. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at the Hilton Waikoloa Village and didn't want to leave. In many respects, it was perfect. In other areas, it fell a bit short. Starting wi...th the good, the location is good. It's about 30 mins from the airport, but is in a great spot to hit Hilo or the Kona side. That pass across the mountain to Hilo can be sketchy though. Nearly 7,000 feet altitude and we had rain and severe fog. The Makia tower was great. We had a room right over the dolphin area and we loved sitting on the balcony watching the trainers work with them. I felt like I learned more about dolphins in 5 days there than my previous 45 years. They're amazing animals. The rooms were clean, but like most beach resorts, the can easily get worn down. This one is approaching that, but was fine. Beds/linens were great, but if your balcony door is open, the AC turns off, so don't expect to leave the door cracked for the ocean sounds. The pool and the cove are great as well although the cove at high tide can get quite deep. We rented a floating cabana on the cove and we absolutely loved it during low tide which was walkable. There were tons of fish, an eel and as soon as we got in, a sea turtle swam right up to us which blew our minds. During high tide, the water was probably 8-10 foot deep in that area and a bit less clear. The real downside to this place is the food costs. The buffet is good, but in no way, shape or form is worth $55 per person. The PFC restaurant had a great location, but the food was just okay. Dinner for 2 was around $270 (app, 2 entre, 2 sodas, 1 cocktail, desert). It's not horrible and I think the location is the primary attraction. The Italian spot was our favorite. That was about $150 for 2. The grill by the pool was just okay and 2 burgers/2 drinks was $138. A pizza by the pool is $40 for a medium. Beers are $15-20, cocktails $25ish. You can QUICKLY rack up a heft at this resort which seems to be most people's complaint. There's a shopping center and market just outside the resort area and we started picking up food from there. Overall, we had an amazing stay, but it's a bit of a stretch to give this place 5 stars. It's a very solid 4 stars.

We stayed 7 days April 15-22 at the Palace Tower 6th floor with an ocean view. I cannot speak to price as we stayed on points but felt for the points it was absolutely worth it. As a Hilton Diamond member,... we were able to valet park for the price of self park and our room was not out dated at all as some of the reviews mentioned. We had drinks on our balcony almost every night and loved to have the breeze and thanks to a screen we didn't have to worry about birds. HA. The grounds are amazing. We had our 16 yo daughter with us so it was nice to be central at the Palace Tower since it's close to the lagoon and Buddha point and pool, and further away from the main pool filled with littles. We loved walking everywhere but I could see if you had small children you would def want to stay in the Makai Tower. We rented a cabana at the lagoon one day, and spent most of our time away from the main pool. I will say a downside is that the only chair service is at the main pool and the further away you get, the options become more limited. Pre packaged food at the Buddha point pool. We definitely had less mai tais this way. HAHA. It would be so nice if they had a raoming drink cart like they do on golf courses... premade food and treats and bottled beer, wine, cockails or something. I felt the service overall was impeccable. From Annie at check in to the texting for requests. Anything we asked for arrived within minutes including our luggage at check in. Valet was quick, Scotty at the pool bar was terrific, as well as every server we encountered at Kona Bar and the coffee shop was amaing every single day - quality of drinks, food, and service. The food is why I give this 4 stars. We tried Kamuela Provision Company two nights. The view is incredible for sunset but the food is meh. We ate all of the apps and salads one night. It was just okay and so expensive and then after eating off premise and local, we had a meal there at the end of our stay. TERRIBLE. The pork chop was chewy and bland, the fish dry, they were out of bottles of wine and sparkling we wanted to order and it cost $300. I wish the quality was better for the cost and they sourced locally. That pork chop tasted like Chilis compared to the pork we ate all over the island. Def check out the food at the grocery store at Queens Market and the little bar for happy hour is a gem! Shout out to Mark the bartender for all the great local recommends. Get the poke bowls, spam musabi and all of the desserts! Overall, I would recommend this resort if you know the dinners aren't great, you are prepared to walk, and don't mind not having sandy beach access. We're from soCal so the lagoon was perfectly fine for us.
