Overpriced and tired

We booked this under holiday inn and Catalonia have taken over a month ago. While we can see an attempt to make some improvements, it is still shabby and extremely overpriced for what it is. House keeping is shoddy at best - bathroom not cleaned properly, no towels given, room not cleaned until 4pm. Guest relations are not helpful or friendly, and the check in process is appalling. You can’t get hold of bottled water for no love or money so bring a large container to fill in the water dispensers. The a la carte restaurants are excellent and included so worth a visit. The main restaurant is more like a canteen but the food is good enough. It’s not a bad place but it is way too expensive for what it is so I would not recommend it.

Pros Warm reception from front of house and porters who have ALWAYS got a helpful and wise word when you pass by. Puts you at ease in new surroundings. Very humble and generous with their attention to detail. Serving staff are very professional and run a tight ship ensuring you are fed and watered and have a great experience Junior suites in block 4 offer astounding views. Tasteful decor feels fresh lovely beds. Wide range of foods in buffet and nice choice of restaurants for a change. Sweet but starving kitties roaming. They don’t pester and are beautiful. Friendly salon staff. Well maintained beach and landscaping in general.. hard working staff ensure you have very clean and inviting thoroughfares Some quality singers to entertain the evenings and excellent bands. Cons Unfortunately room cleaning was inadequate. Twice in 10 days with family members in same block being given toiletries, coffee our other refreshments clean towels daily etc and others nothing. I’m not fussed about sheets daily but towels and an antibacterial clean is necessary as even the most beautiful room felt unhygienic after a few days. Small and dated bathrooms. Flies around uncovered buffet food. I got sick by day 7 so stopped having the fruit and salads as a precaution which was a shame. It is a smaller more basic hotel compared to others around but perfect if you don’t want anywhere too loud and fussy. No Working ATM. I’d like to know I can pay locals in dollars for locally produced goods. Feed the cats or show some kind of welfare practice. Many visitors liked seeing them when away from their own pets.
