Great experience

Just got back from a short stay! The food was good! All of the workers were amazing! Shorty at the jerk bar and the bartender at building seven were amazing! The man who cleaned the seaweed from the beach ...couldn’t have been nicer and took such pride in his work! Be sure to get Beachtowels when you can, as they can be hard to come by. Overall, I would go back as it was well worth the price.

I’ll be back

I had an amazing time at the Catalonia resort. It was so laid back and relaxing. Exactly what I needed. The sunrises, sunsets, bars, and restaurants were so good. I recommend the Bloved restaurant if you w...ant quiet, delicious, oceanfront meals with people that feel like family. Ask for Latoya, she is so warm and welcoming and made every meal delightful. Can’t wait to go back.

Unfulfilled Stay & Broken Promise!!!!!

In December of 2024 went to a function nearby and needed a place to overnight. Catalonia Montego Bay was convenient, as it was close to the venue we attended. We booked three rooms, we checked in after mid...night. One room was given the wrong keys and walked in on the privacy of other guests. One other room had molds all over and smelt horrible, the other room had an unfinished bottle of water on the table. One couple had to wait almost two hours to be relocated as some other guests were already in their room. We met with management the following morning, of which they apologized for all the inconviences we experienced. They agreed to compensate a percentage of the cost we paid for our stay. We are so dissatisfied that from December Catalonia has only reimbursed for only one room. We have gone back and forth with them from January trying to have this matter settled. They claimed the transaction was completed and the transfer deposited to my account. I reached out to my bank, who informed me that they need to make contact with them as it appears there is an issue that needs to be resolved with the bank. I sent them an email informing them that there seem to be some error with the banking transaction but no one has replied. They have treated us with scant regards, we truly didn't get what we paid for. Very, very disappointed!

Not the best...at this time.

We just returned from a 14 day stay that was disappointing. The resort changed hands in August 2024 from the Holiday Inn to The Catalonia and is in a transition period. It is somewhat run down and needs a ...great deal of remodeling. Upon arrival we were asked for our credit card to pay for the stay; I had already paid the booking agent 3 months prior. Our initial room had no hot water, no a/c; I called the desk to have someone come check both the a/c and hot water issue. The next morning we were told the a/c could not be fixed and we would be moved. We repacked anticipating a room would soon be available for us. Nope, we had to wait again until 3pm for our new room, as if we were just arriving. We wasted 2 days waiting for a room and just wandering around. Our dinner reservation, on the 2nd day, which I had made the day before, was not to be found; leaving us with no place but the buffet again for dinner. However, this was resolved by a manager who saw us upset and frustrated. Once seated, we were surprised to find that the restaurant was nearly empty and we wondered why would could not have been seated when we were turned away initially. The elevators in all 7 building & most ice machines were not working. A/C in a few restaurants was hit or miss as far as not working. There are cats everywhere begging for food. The buffet food is the same every day. At the restaurants, where you need a reservation, the menu has few options that do not change. What you see today is what you will see your entire stay. We found the best food to be at the Jerk Bar, which is not a restaurant, where they have chicken and pork offerings. The chicken was so good. The rest of the resort food was just ok. The entertainment is mostly a single "show" that begins around 8 or 9 pm. They do not have many activities. The resort offers laundry machines for the guests to use. When we went to do our laundry we found a staff member using the machine for her own personal use. We had to wait for her to complete her wash before doing ours. The beaches are nice, I would advise bringing water shoes. There are 2 pools one of which is an adult pool, they were good. The grounds are immaculately groomed and are worked every day. Getting a drink at most of the bars can take some time, they all could use more than one bartender. The staff was friendly and they are hard working people. At check out we were surprised to find a room tax of $4.00 per day that we owed. You must check out and pay all taxes and purchases, then you are given a ticket to leave. You cannot leave the resort without this ticket. The rating of this hotel at the time of our booking was a 3.5. Unfortunately, I would rate it a 2. Hopefully, when the remodel is complete The Catalonia will be a nicer place to stay and enjoy.

I had to kill 2 roaches in my room and management didn't do anything to solve this problem. I spoken with a manager and I showed her the roaches in the hallway and pictures of a dead roache I kill in my ro...om. I ask for a refund and she denied my request!!
