A+ Customer Service and Location in Palm Springs!
Eric H (Los Angeles, California) on Oct 29, 2024
My husband and I traveled to Palm Springs to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and decided to give the Renaissance a shot. As a Titanium member (current and lifetime) I was happy that my Suite Night upgrades were accepted and we got a huge suite with 2 bedrooms and a large living area and bathroom. At check-in, the the front deck representative (a sweet young Filipino man - can't recall his name, sorry!!) acknowledged my Bonvoy status and asked if we were celebrating anything. When I told him, he immediately called over the concierge, Erin, and let her know so they could send something up to our room. We ended up being out all day but Erin called and texted a couple times over the next 24 hours to ensure they we receive a lovely "Mimosa Bar" in our room - a bottle of champagne with various juices a small boxes of delicious chocolate. I think it's really nice that she didn't just give up because we weren't available the first time she tried to send it up. The next morning at breakfast (very good, using the included breakfast coupons with our status), Mark went out of his way to bring us a dessert to take up to our room for later and made sure we got a drink when we went out to the pool that afternoon. On our final day, the concierge manager, Gordon, passed us in the lobby, asked about our stay, and we somewhat reluctantly got to the point of mentioning it was our anniversary. He was so kind and immediately set us up with a daybed and some snacks by the pool. Now look, it was a slower couple of days at the hotel so I can't say that everyone would get the amount of attention we did, but I can say that everyone we met there went above and beyond to make us feel special and celebrated. They are all kind and provided top notch service. As for the hotel, it's aging a little, but unless you want to stay further from Downtown Palm Springs (like on a golf course in Rancho Mirage - not our thing) there are few other options for location and a resort-style feel. It so close to everything, the parking is reasonably priced (plus discounted for Bonvoy elite members) and all the food we had was solid. The next time we travel to Palm Springs, the Renaissance will be at the top of the list of properties we consider. Thank you Renaissance Palm Springs for treating us so well and making our anniversary special!

Stayed at the hotel and was in lobby about get an uber to go the airport (No cash for tip) but Gordie and Tracey offered to take us to the airport anyhow. So thoughtful and much appreciated! Will definitely be back because of their customer service.

Our three day stay was wonderful from the moment we drove up. The lobby is beautiful and very welcoming. Check in was seamless with Eka. He explained about our room, the property and surrounding area. He introduced us to the concierge Geordie who absolutely made our stay. He was so enthusiastic and eager to make our stay unforgettable. We enjoyed many cocktails and meals at the lobby bar. Jeremy, George, and Mat were great! The continental breakfast buffet was included with our Marriott status and could be upgraded for a small fee. Definitely enjoyed our breakfasts. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The pool area was beautiful and lounge areas were clean and comfortable. We are eagerly anticipating another trip there soon!.
PATHETICALLY INCOMPETENT

I'm giving them one star because of my ordeal in just trying to get a copy of my folio for business trip documentation and reimbursement purposes. They didn't provide one automatically; I asked for one when I checked out (after a long line) and they said they would email it (they never did); I called them when I got home, and, AGAIN, they said they would email it AND make a note of my complaint about the hassle and delay, which they never did either. Arrogant, inefficient, incompetent for the most BASIC things like providing an itemized folio for a business traveler. Pathetic. Don't bother to stay here, certainly not for business, but I don't recommend it for leisure, either. Smug service on the phone, too, that was sarcastic, obsequious, condescending, patronizing, and -- wait for it -- ultimately incompetent. NOT a good experience.
Yikes...caveat emptor - will not stay here again

First of all, the good: Property grounds are well maintained. Just a short walk to downtown Palm Springs. Connected to the convention center. The bad: This is going to be a much longer and frankly, more important list. The property seemed very understaffed during my visit. On the three times I needed to visit the front desk, only one employee was working there. The rooms, hallways, and meeting rooms are all showing their age. Lots of worn furniture and scuff marks. The big issue, however, is their horrible air conditioning. It was very warm in my room on arrival and I immediately turned the thermostat as low as it went. Left for a 4 hour meeting and when I returned the room was still warm. The air was blowing out of the vent but was not cold air. I went down to the front desk and asked that my unit be looked at while I was at dinner. Upon returning to the room, it was a little cooler and the vent seemed to have somewhat cooler air blowing out...so that was a positive. At 2:30am I woke up in a sweat to have the room just as warm as when I checked in. Tried to ignore it and go back to sleep but eventually needed to call the front desk and requested a fan be brought to my room. Took a while, but did eventually arrive. When I told my co-worker about the issue the next morning, they also said their AC was terrible in their room. Maybe the hotel just was not functioning properly, but with other hotel resort options close by I would just not risk staying at this one.
