The big thing missing from this hotel is customer service. If you were on the all inclusive package you get treated like dirt. The food was mehhh and the drinks were mehhh. The best thing about the resort ...was the views of the ocean. This would be one of my last choices to stay at for the future.
Double charge for menu VALUE ADDED TAX
Susan M (Calgary, Canada) on Mar 26, 2025
Hidden (double) IVA /Tax on food items on menu Despite the menu clearly stating that the 16% IVA tax is included in the food prices, the restaurant charges an additional 16%. Food here is average at best.... Convenience in being by the pool & ocean. This property is under new, Sonesta, management. Correct the menu, which clearly states " menu prices include 16% Value Added tax".

Everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. Special shout-out to the activities director , who kept everything fun and interactive! And the bell captain who helped my granddaughter arrange to retrieve... her phone she left in a cab! Was a spring break getaway with my granddaughter. Fun for all ages
Poor, Awful, and Terrible Service
Cece H on Mar 20, 2025
I really wanted to love the service but I had the worst treatment on my birthday. I picked this place very carefully after tons of research. Even though I read negative comments; I thought well - how bad c...ould it really be? I got the answer alright. I went down for breakfast on day 2 (my birthday). At least 7 tables that arrived after me received their foods before I did. I was basically forgotten. My order was a common breakfast of scrambled eggs and a fruit plate. That’s it, nothing else. It took 35 minutes for my plate to arrive and both the food and the plate were freezing cold when they did arrive. I went up to my room literally crying after stopping at the reception to inform them. To the restaurant staff - Do not treat your guests this way, especially one that has been kind to you. I spent a lot of money on this trip and couldn’t even enjoy a common hot breakfast on my birthday. I am a happy go lucky positive person but this experience made me contemplate checking out and checking into the Hilton down the street. While the view is beautiful, the restaurant experience is absolutely poor, awful, and terrible. The day before this incident, I had treated all the staff very well and tipped heavily. However, things took an awful turn the next day. I offered to return my remaining breakfast vouchers for the rest of the week of my stay. I spent my money on food elsewhere during the visit, even though I had paid for breakfast to be included in my stay. Go for the view but be prepared to cater to your own meals. FYI Coffee maker in my room also didn’t work.
Luxury Stay With All The Amenities

We stayed at Costa Sur for 2 weeks. We loved the location - it is in “The Hills” area at the southern end of Puerto Vallarta, in the resort district. It is right on the beach, with its own little reef. ...We snorkeled a few times, and saw a wide variety of fish. We were on the second floor of the North Tower, and had such an incredible view of the ocean. The sunsets were stunning, and almost every morning we saw whales swimming by. The on-site restaurant served excellent food, and the barefoot bar was convenient to use during the day. Our room was open concept, and had all the amenities we needed - fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, lots of drawer/closet space, king-sized bed, smart TV, and a large balcony. Martha was our housekeeper, and she was lovely - very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I had 2 massages, and both were soothing and relaxing. Jocabeth was the Vallarta Adventures on-site representative, and she set us up with 3 amazing excursions. The little store was very handy, and carried a wide variety of supplies. We enjoyed our stay there, and would definitely go back to that location.
