We recently stayed at the Live Aqua in Punta Cana. We enjoyed our stay at the Live Aqua as it met our expectations (relax, onsite activities, sunny) and the pros were greater than the cons. In fact the cons are minimal and not much of the hotels fault. The main points we didn’t like was the intensity of what they present as their Vacation Club. Not only did I not want to waste 60 minutes of my vacation for a sales pitch (even for a 2 for 1 at the spa) but it just felt like too much. The lobby staff was nice, but they didn’t seem to get no. They would come up to us every morning at breakfast and scooped us away right after check-in when we thought we were meeting our butler for a tour of the property. We managed to let them down to start our relaxing holiday but tried to avoid them afterwards. The second and only other negative was the lack of respect from other guests. To be fair, this is in no way the hotel’s fault, but perhaps they could enforce the rules a little more. A first group was listening to loud music at the quiet pool, it’s not a retreat but it seems common sense that quiet pool means don’t bring your speaker. A family brought their speaker along with them every step of the way: to the beach (while they were in the water), we couldn’t hear the waves or the distant main pool music over their speaker, to the lobby where they danced to it and even in their swim up, which to our great displeasure was 4 rooms down from ours (and yes we heard it all the way from there, because they carried it around as they swam in front of the other swim ups!) Like I said though, the positive were high! For one, the staff was truly amazing ! From Barbara at the Cool Fever cafe always greeting us with a smile and singing as she prepared our coconut drinks, to Julio who always greeted us like family at breakfast and lunch -he truly made us feel special! His friends Mercedes and Ramon were also super helpful. Diana was our greeter on many mornings and dinners and was always friendly. Our butler Ivan, ensured my fiancé’s effort to make my birthday special were met by decorating our room, providing a cake, helping with spa reservation and securing a birthday table at the restaurant. Last but not least, the entertainment team with José, Jesus and Sander, they have a great complicity and great energy to get the guests participating! They were very professional and fun! We also enjoyed the various restaurant. Yes it’s typical All inclusive cuisine that would appeal to a large crowd but we enjoyed it. We particularly enjoyed the wide range of food offer for the amount of rooms. The resort is huge but in a positive way! It’s not over crowded and there’s plenty of options food wise that you don’t really have to wait. We really liked the cafe and the Ice cream. There were also plenty of bars and staff around that you never went thirsty, the drinks were nice and the staff was very efficient! The nighttime entertainment was surprisingly good. Perhaps if you are a light sleeper, request a room further from the lobby. The music isn’t so much a problem and stops at 11pm, but guests going back to their rooms aren’t always quiet. The spa was very nice, the aromas they use were great. The entire hotel smells really nice. And the bath product they use were very nice. All in all we truly loved our stay and the staff really made the difference in making us feel special for my birthday !

The hotel is beautiful and rooms are excellent and spacious. The food was great and the beach was very clean and beautiful. I didn't like that the hotel only has one beer ar the pools and restaurants. I really didn't like that the pool bar ran out of beers and the staff did not have an immediate solution. The staff at the bars and restaurant were always always arguing with each other's about their jobs responsibilities.
