Building works and poor sound proofing - not ideal for light sleepers or babies needing routine
Gemma D (Brentwood) on Dec 21, 2024
Ill start with the good, as its not to be overlooked, BUT this hotel was a major let down and was not worth the thousands we spent on it, and we complained numerous times The grounds are stunning, really well looked after and the grounds staff work so hard. The wildlife is amazing, and very well looked after also, well protected and looked out for The basic rooms are a decent size too Entertainment was lovely The spa is incredible Room service is included in cost THEY ARE DOING WORKS HERE! One of the three resorts has some extensive work being done, the white sands. If id have paid for adults only and the ‘nicer’ part of this resort, id be demanding a refund!!! We were in Villa 7 and this backed onto the works. It was constant, and vert very loud. They worked until 1.10 AM one night, and on average 9 or 10 pm most nights - it was impossible to escape - and we were travelling with a BABY!!! On arrival we were told we were on the 2nd floor, to which we asked why, and could we be moved- a baby and a stroller, not ideal - we booked in April so a really long time in advance. We were given an apology and told there was nothing they could do - but would be eligible for an upgrade at cost in three days There is constant road traffic on the perimeter or the resort, trucks and works, so getting bell boys, or shuttles to and from the lobby etc are hard, and again its very noisy - we were given no warning at all of the works. Baby sleep and routine was impossible due to the location of the villa and the noise When the works did quit for the night, if anyone came back to their room on our floor after a night out, or was leaving with cases… you are going to hear them!!! When they are in their rooms, its pretty sound proof, but in the hall you hear EVERYTHING! If you are a light sleeper (Which I am not) this is going to wake you - we had one night of 10 where we were not woken up early hours of the morning Kids club - offered little!!! Was very disappointed with what was available- a ball pit, a TV, and a broken car ramp, and two dogs you could ride- both had no batteries so didn’t work. There were a few trikes you could take away and keep, only one had all of the parts in tact, and that one was gone so we had one with a broken front compartment and no shun shade. When we arrived at the room on day one, the floor was FILTHY!! Like, wash my feet before bed filthy. It had clearly not been cleaned. The shower pole broke day two, was placed back by the maid, but they left the shower head off, as they knew it was broke, but left to look in tact, so we couldn’t shower - instead of flagging with maintenance to sort, it was left for us to discover - very poor form. This was fixed when requested, in decent time The sink didn’t fill up - I needed it to wash baby bottled etc, we complained and this was NEVER fixed. Coffee machine was used in the room, was never cleaned out and the filters removed, this was left to us each night when we returned to the room I had to request bath mats, hand towels and face cloths a few times as these were never replenished when the room was made up. Waited two days for these! On arrival, there was no shower gel in the bottle on the wall, we asked for some, this took a day, when it did come, we were given the bottle, we used and then left on the side of the bath, this sat there for three days - it didn’t occur to the maid to attach the new bottle to the wall in replacement of the old one We had to request milk a lot, as the baby wasn’t in her routine due to the constant noise from the building works, and the hallway disturbances, and every time we requested milk, we had to chase over and over! One time we had to chase 5 times, and waited 8 hours, another we went to the reception, where we were told.. they are literally in your building now… and then someone came to reception with the milk, by mistake. So thanks for lying to my face!!!! Mid stay, our sink tap fell off of the moulding, wasn’t Albee to use, and left lots of smelly debris - reported and maintenance came - late at nights waking the baby yet again Room service is included in the cost- this is a great thing, so we were able to take advantage of this, on the hard nights with the baby- the wait time was managed well, and delivered hot. Hotter and tastier than the buffet. We were asked to leave plates outside the room. Which we did. 4AM we were woken up to coatis (like a raccoon i think) rummaging around the plates and metal toppers making such a racket. Called room service at 4 am to let them know, then again at 7.30 am when we were leaving, and there were still there at 1pm when we went back to the room - this happened twice, so again another wake up! If sleep is important to you, make sure you are away from the works going on, and you take advantage of the entertainment etc and come home late. The reception staff are unhelpful, and quite rude. We had the misfortune of dealing with Yessica a few times, and quite frankly she shouldn’t be working front facing, she has a poor attitude and could do with customer service refreshing We were so happy to leave come the end of our trip, and just wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on our experience. We will not be returning
UNDER RENOVATIONS BE WARNED. Do not stay
jakobp20y on Dec 20, 2024
This resort was under renovation, white sand pool and lake GONE, sounds of construction throughout the resort. No stage at the colonial. Food was boring, very little variation day to day at the buffet (all 3 meals). Rooms weren’t super clean and the cleaning ladies kept taking towels and not replacing, wouldn’t add to the empty shower gel when asked. We’re constantly harassed to purchase things (massages, excursions, palladium group crap) while sitting at the pool. So called all inclusive but they kept trying to sell things (expensive wine, upgraded food), they had an obstacle course in the pool that cost money but was taking up half of the pool. Was very disappointed with this resort, I would rather stay at a RIU.
