TripAdvisor Traveler Rating

We traveled as a couple late August 2024. I would like to do three different ratings for this hotel. 5* for the beach and ocean, as we know Cuba has gorgeous beaches. The hotel room and pool are a 3* for me. The food was a 1* . Breakfast at the Sanctuary restaurant was the only acceptable meal. Lunch and dinner were difficult. I wasn't expecting anything better for post-covid Cuba and I do not regret out stay here at all. I just find that the ratings on Tripadvisor should reflect the actual situation. As I realize now a lot of the 5* ratings are done by users with only one review so I question the truthfulness of these ratings. Go and enjoy the beautiful beaches of Cuba !

One of the best resorts ever. The customer service is perfect. You get a personal butler who checks in on you daily and ensures that you are ok. The staff are friendly and make you feel like you are in luxury. The rooms are spacious and the resort looks very nice. Definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a luxurious experience.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories is an oasis even within the bigger resort. I went with my partner without any expectations to be honest, since I’m Cuban although been living out of the island for some time now. I was surprised to see how attentive the restaurants and bars staff was. They are genuine, authentically Cuban and always with a smile. They really care about making you feel good. Hats off to the girls at the snack bar by the pool. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable At the state the country is right now, and even other resorts in Varadero, you’ll feel you are in paradise. It was the first time I saw a restaurant managed by a Mexican instead of a Cuban and he is so on point. One little advice when you go. On Wednesdays they set up the food out by the pool so everyone can have lunch besides the a la carte restaurant. I’d suggest you eat inside. The food was displayed under the Cuban noon sun for almost 40m without anyone allowed up touch it. Little did that I know, all of the guests who ate that ended up sick including myself. Be mindful there are mosquitoes, bring repellent, of course sun screen and your own bottle of water so you can refill your drinks. Plastics glasses are tiny and if you’re out and about you’ll thank me later. There are some cute dogggies usually hanging by the beach. Treat them with respect, give them water if you can and and while I don’t recommend feeding them, share some of your chicken wings. They’re gentle and very well behaved. I was in shook when left Sanctuary to explore the rest of the resort. Stay in Sanctuary and do not eat or drink outside for your own sake. Be mindful staff out of Sanctuary is very rude, drinks are watered down, food was a no go for us. Even the family pool was so dirty. As I said, Sanctuary is an oasis, and I hope it stays like that for many more years. Fingers crossed!

Overall good experience. Room was good Resort was easy to navigate, I want to thank Thalia our Butler and Obdulio Sierra for the great services.. The breakfast at the restaurant at the sanctuary was excellent service with plenty of fruits ..

I would like to thank my waitress and waiter for their kind attention on the Cuban day, and at the beach the Bartenders Nataly and Yudi for their excellent attention, To Joan, The Head Boss of the the restaurant for the wonderful presentation and organization of the Cuban day celebrated at the pool area and monitos, they are a great team that make my visit a wonderful stay smiling all tha time and a clean place to always want to return to, perfect and thank again.
