Beautiful Antigua

Beautiful senri and beaches very friendly locals and resort staff. A bit outdated but still the view and privacy was worth it. Resort food was excellent. Only negative thing is the flies during the dat probably due to time of year. Excellence boat tour was great.

We returned to Cocobay after 10 years to find some changes to the place, you now made your Lunch and Evening Meal reservations when you went in for Breakfast and not at reception as before, the bar area had changed a bit and there was a coffee shop and water / ice station at reception, you were given your own personal metal water bottle to use and to take home and other additional areas have been made around the place for secret meals and sunbathing. The Deluxe Cottage we were given was at the far end where the dirt track road was and we asked to be moved as there was noise from the cars using the road and some locals partying at 4.00 am in the abandoned shed that is at that end. We were moved and was given a choice of the Deluxe Cottages that was available, we chose one with a wonderful view. On the first Saturday afternoon before we moved there was loud music being played, that loud it was vibrating the cottage, you could feel it through the floor and items were moving on the side surfaces, we thought it was the cottage in front of us and was going to have a word. when i went outside you could feel the force of the soundwaves hit you as you passed between the cottages and i realised the the music was coming from the little beach bar on Valley Church Beach, over a mile away. Turns out it was a sound check and the real performance was starting at 6.00 pm, so we had the deafening noise again as we got ready for our evening meal. when we went for our Evening meal we asked at reception what was going on and was told it was a guest DJ preforming at the little beach bar, which they have occasionally and they had call and asked for it to be turned down and had called the police to see if they could do anything and told us it could legally go on till 12.00 am Midnight, which it did. It was that loud that we could not even hear Cocobay's own evening entertainment or the Tree Frogs singing. There is also more Catamarans Trips coming to valley Church Beach with loud music when the cruise ships are in, can be three at a time, they tend to come to have lunch on the beach, stay a couple of hours and go. But apart from those incidents everything was great, seen some staff that was there ten years ago and made friends with the new staff as well. Booked trips with reception as asked Virgin rep about some trips and they never got back to us.
