One of the nicest Caribbean hotels

suer525 (Hertfordshire, United Kingdom) on Sep 27, 2024

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed at in the Caribbean. I was a little concerned that only having one restaurant the meals would be disappointing. But I couldn’t have been more wrong! The food was excellent - very well presented and nice sensible portions. The staff were all friendly and helpful. So why only 4 stars? The main pool was stunning but the second pool by the beach was a little run down. There was no private beach and the small public beach accessible from the hotel was a bit run down. At night the resort could have been better lit. But overall I would highly recommend this resort

Vacation in Paradise!

Connector232653 (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Sep 22, 2024

We just had the most amazing and relaxing vacation at Cocobay! The location is absolutely stunning, and the resort rooms are individual cottages. Our private cottage had the most incredible ocean views, a refreshing plunge pool, and a slipper tub on the deck. We truly got that Caribean paradise feeling! The resort's atmosphere is so laid-back and it looks even better than the photos. All the staff are incredibly friendly and always ready with a smile to greet you; they could not have been nicer or more helpful. For dining, there's one main restaurant for all meals and a cute coffee shop with pastries and smoothies. You can also grab paninis by the pool for lunch and enjoy bar snacks in the late afternoon. While 'foodies' might find the main restaurant's food underwhelming, we always found something on the menu we liked, and the views from the restaurant were just spectacular. The resort does have another restaurant, but it's not part of the all-inclusive package. We didn't try it due to some negative reviews from other guests. Every night there was live music in the bar, adding to the wonderful atmosphere of Cocobay! The resort is situated on a hillside, with direct beach access. We loved taking walks after breakfast along the gorgeous white sand beaches of Little Ffryers and Big Ffryer, then a swim in the clear turquoise Caribbean sea before a hard day relaxing at the resort pool! Cocobay has snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaks available for its guests. We had an incredible day sailing with Wadadli Cats and snorkeling on Cades Reef. I highly recommend Cocobay Resort!

Magical experience

Trip53788322430 on Sep 19, 2024

Arrival at the airport, probably took 10 min for immigration & getting our luggage. *make sure you fill out both sides of paper and keep your end. We booked a taxi with Mr.Lunch, he was highly recommended through the group and he is very professional, and punctual. Arrival to the Resort, we got greated by the concierge, they took out luggage and we went to reception to check in ( we did the online Check in, it saved lots of time) we just had to add a credit card. While we were doing that the concierge brought us drinks. We sat and enjoyed the view while waiting for the manager to come. Once she came she greated us, and we had a breakdown on how everything works. She asked us what time we wanted dinner, and then we were guided to our rooms. We booked through expedia, and had the deluxe cottage private pool ocean view. Room N2 BREATHLESS! Food- when I saw it I said man, I won't get full but I had trouble finishing every meal. You get 4 course meals, the perfect portion. Every meal is amazing, the drinks also¡ the staff so friendly(I loved Kathleen), they are excellent. At the bar we loved everyone in particular Derrick and Yocaste*very very attentive. I was there for my birthday and got sang too by the band because they told them. It was beautiful. The coffee shop was soo good. You have so many choices We did use the paddle boards and kayak from the resort, and rented out the jetski at the beach from Teddy for $55/1/2 an hour. They give different pricing, from $88- $55. They will bargain. We went to Shirley Heights on Sunday, used the shuttle with the resort. It was $30/ person round trip. There you find the live music, little vendors and lots of food and drinks. The sunset view was just unbelievable. Tuesdays the resort sets up shuttle to st. John's. To get souvenirs, you will find everything from mugs, to Keychains, ect. We didn't end up taking the shuttle because the other couple was running late and we wanted to be done early to come back and enjoy. We paid $50 roundtrip, while there everyone will try to get you to buy something and they have similar things, you just negotiate and spread the love. We reserved the black rock pool for tapas night on my birthday & it was magical, from the moment they get you and take you, treated me like a princess, got amazing food and bottle. And let's not even forget the view and sunset!!! Highly recommend. By the beach we met Norma and Collette they sell bracelets and have dresses and souvenirs. They take vemno so if you don't have cash on you it doesn't matter. We rented the jetski with Teddy, he also got us fresh fruits like coconuts $5/ coconut, black pineapple and papaya. On the last day, check out was quick and easy.

Absolutely incredible and so relaxing

We went to CoCo Bay resort for Marie’s birthday celebration as we do every year to a different Carribean island. Coco bay as an adults only exclusive resort was incredible. We stayed at the Bougainvillea (BG)cottage soooo private on the water with plunge pool, birds and hummingbirds on our lanai/deck every day, we even named them. The room was amazing and close to the secret beach with all the water sports equipment with an over the water lounge area right next to us. The restaurant Rafters had the best food all week breakfast lunch and dinner. Also though we didn’t have paninis or bar bites they were also available, we just didn’t have any room after the wonderful meals. The best part of the stay though was the incredibly warm and incredibly welcoming staff. All with a smile and how can I make your stay more comfortable attitude. A special thanks to concierge galore Lady Kemlin, a special lady who helped us arrange our week to our desires and made us so comfortable, arranging our couples massage, private cliff side meal and special candles and flowers on our return from dinner our final night. Bartender Lisa was just a joy and her drinks perfect. The other bartender Ms Bubbles awesome. The restaurant staff was so caring looking after our every need stand outs were Denise and Mel but everyone was incredible. Thank you all, we look forward to returning to your 6 star resort. Great birthday week for Marie, she said how wonderful her birthday week was literally 100 times (I counted)

A Good Time in Paradise

LKKHouston (Houston) on Sep 09, 2024

*Start with this to help everyone out: everyone 18 and over must fill out their OWN form for immigration. The airline said the opposite (this is NOT correct). Once everyone arrived at immigration from our flight, we were all asked to fill out individual forms. Bring a pen, have the address of where you’re staying, and you’ll be good to go (keep the form they give you for your return trip home – you will need it). OK – so some of these reviews are crazy (if a hotel not having bottled water would make you leave a bad review, then you have bigger issues when it comes to travel). Is this the best hotel ever? No. Is it the worst hotel ever? Far from it! We had a good time in paradise (again, reading some of these reviews – some people can just be miserable anywhere). 4 out of 5 stars. Before you book: check with the hotel what room you are actually going to get. It is a bit confusing. Example: we did not realize we would be getting a room with neighbors (we thought all the rooms were standalone cabins, this is not the case). The following 8 rooms have neighbors (you can find this on the ‘resort map’, but it’s not mentioned on the ‘cottages’ page – or we totally missed it): R1/R2, N1/N2, F1/F2, & M1/M2. We had neighbors, didn’t want to ruin their time (or vice versa), politely asked the front desk if we would have neighbors the whole time, and no questions asked they moved us (thank you, saved the trip!). Went from R1 to 5. Way better/what we envisioned! Pros: location – no sea weed or choppy water here (we went to East side of the island and not the case over there), concierge scheduled a 1 on 1 meeting with us before arrival (never had that before!), I did not see a single mosquito (and they bite me all the time in Texas), in room plunge pool was awesome (we used it in the hot afternoons), beds and pillows were comfortable, multiple pools (the pool by the beach has a different panini sandwich each day), bar service near both pools (walk up to the bar or catch them when they come around), in room water bottles, and a large water machine with ice by reception (you walk that way every day), coffee shop was a really good addition (different snacks in there each day as well), we had no issues with the food or portions (reading the reviews looks like some were expecting ‘Applebee’s’ or something?), we never had the same food, and the night we got the steak it was too much to eat (we actually had x2 different people ask us after dinner while watching the live music if the steak was ‘OK’ because we did not finish it – never had that happen before, very impressed they came and asked!). The steak was very good, just too much to eat. Thank you for checking! Other stuff: couples massage was great, ‘Cruise and Chill’ boat trip via the hotel with Christian and Jess was awesome (get out on the water if you can – we had a BLAST), & we did book a whole island tour via ‘Viator’ – a great way to see the whole island if you want to get out and about. Lots of history and things to see. There is also a small gym available to guests (free weights, x2 benches, rower, bike, & treadmill). Cons: tree frogs (you will hear them sunset to sunrise – pack ear plugs if you are a light sleeper, ear plugs did the trick for me, my wife is a heavy sleeper and did not need them), room R1 (mentioned above) the bathroom was not great – the reason was because there was no ventilation in there – hot and sticky (room 5 you can open the doors to your patio and create a breeze, way better) - I don’t know why R1 was different, sand fly’s got my wife pretty good (didn’t bite me though – not sure), the public beach with direct access leaves a bit to be desired (we were asked about ‘renting a jet ski’ or ‘buying souvenirs’ the second we walked out there – good if you want a jet ski or souvenirs, but not so great if you want peace and quiet), and lastly, some of the staff (not the majority) seemed almost annoyed when you ask for something (example: a second cup of coffee) – we had that general reaction several times (kind of a bummer). All in all, we had a good time. If you are looking for the ‘4 Seasons’ you should probably go stay there. This is a low key, on island time pace/go with the flow type place. We did all-inclusive and it was totally worth it. I think the resort has the potential to be great, but for now we’ll just say it’s ‘good’. 4 out of 5. Thank you for a nice relaxing vacation in paradise. Shout out/thank you to: Ariell (Concierge), Sandy, Ashley, Derrick, Kharelle, Yocasta, Sabrina, Jahsiba, Jeremiah, & Shamika.
