I’m not a bad bargain for a three star resort

NcFuninthesun (NC) on Nov 01, 2024

I would call this a three star resort. The bungalows are conveniently perched on top of the hill overlooking a very large cove. The beach is A little small, but clean and very good sand. The breakfast offers plenty of choices, and the food was very consistent. The other restaurants offered varying choices from seafood to pasta and steak. We found the staff to be a little reserved unless they were engaged by us first. Each taxi cab bride to go anywhere else on the island is 30 to 45 minutes and will cost you roughly $100 US round-trip. The grounds overall could use some landscaping in general cleanup. They do have music each evening, but offered no other entertainment.

Excellent hotel 10/10.

Sue6623 (Norwich, United Kingdom) on Oct 26, 2024

Originally, we were going to the Pineapple Beach Club, but due to renovations, we were moved to Verandah Resort. Absolutely gorgeous hotel in our opinion 10/10 We arrived late in the evening and they had done a reservation for dinner for us, which we didn't go to, very tired on arrival as we have been travelling for the whole day. Check-in was quick and was taken to our room by a golf buggy. Room (waterview king) was beautiful, very big. Walk-in shower, complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion restocked regularly. King size bed . Ceiling fan and air conditioning, which worked really well. Kettle and coffee percolator. USB point in light stand beside your bed. Room cleaned every day. Pool towels supplied in room on arrival. The food was excellent. I am a fussy eater, and I had no issues at all. Omelettes made to order at breakfast with a choice of fillings. Cereals, pastries, cooked breakfast, waffles, and pancakes, as well as fruits and yoghurt. Sails and tails big chicken is to die for and pasta Beach grill the ribs were delicious the meat fell off the bone. The pizzas are huge. There are about 4 choices, but you can do half and half. Italian alarm carte was also very nice and the sports bar do things like nachos and burgers in the evenings. The coffee shop was excellent. It opened at 6.30 am. The cakes are delicious. Would strongly recommend the blended ice coffees in various flavours. Drinks very good assortment, the cocktails are to die for. The bar staff work very hard. The pool is cleaned every day by 2 lovely members of staff. Didn't get their names, but they do a brilliant job. We were there during the low season, so getting sunbeds was not an issue at all. The entertainment team were not pushy at all but always chatted when passing. Evening entertainment was OK. Local entertainers came in and was a bit disappointed that there was not a lot of steel band music. Beaches are ok, but you are on the Atlantic side of the island. Lovers Beach has steps to it. If you have mobility issues, you would struggle, so I recommend Rast Beach, which also has a pool there, too. We had 4 favourite members of staff Nicole M, Theodore in the seabreaze restaurant for breakfast, and Shawn and Craigg the buggy drivers, having said that all the staff are amazing and work very hard and always have a great big smile on their faces. Would I recommend this hotel definitely. Excellent holiday. A big thankyou to all the staff and management for their excellent service.

Great in parts, but not for sailors

david M (Andwell, United Kingdom) on Oct 25, 2024

First to say that we originally booked Pineapple Beach, and were moved to Verandah due to former being refurbished, they are in same group but there are some major differences. The good; staff were generally excellent , probably unfair to pick out individuals but Theodore (Sails and Tales plus breakfast buffet) , Andre (Beach Bar) and Nicole (breakfast) the stand outs for me. If you get a room near main pool everything is pretty much within 2 minutes walk (even the Rasta Beach, Beach Grill (highly recommended) and reception can be reached by buggy, which rarely took more than a couple of minutes to arrive. Food was mostly excellent (although due to low numbers the buffet was never open in evenings , so if you forgot to book the only option was the Wavy Wicket pub, again food good if limited options). The beer, which is brewed on site, is very good. The evening entertainment was good, although the layout of main bar reduces participation as opposed to Pineapple. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Disappointments; the resort is not actually on the ocean , rather a sheltered creek within the reef, so whilst hobie cats are available the sailing is quite limited , and not very enjoyable, (there are kayaks and paddleboard which are probably a better option.) There was quite a bit of seaweed on both beaches. There is a $24 a day surcharge, which is fine so long as advised beforehand, but rooms were only serviced every other day and it did appear that staff levels were being kept at a minimum. There is a noticeboard in main bar area but doesn't even give details of restaurant opening times or whether Seabreeze is open or not. Overall I prefer Pineapple Beach, mainly because it is on the sea and offers proper sailing, however if the beach is not important to you I would not discourage you from spending a vacation at The Verandah, once they are both open you can spend time moving between the two in day, as they are literally less than 5 minute's walk apart.

Lovely resort

Jamesyb90 (Blackwater, United Kingdom) on Oct 24, 2024

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at the Verandah. We had originally booked to stay at Pineapple Beach across the road but unfortunately it is closed for refurb. We have been lucky enough to have previously stayed at both resorts anyway. On arrival to the hotel we had a warm welcome from the reception staff and the buggy drivers where friendly. Who make getting around the resort a piece of cake if you dont fancy a walk. We where given a superior waterfront room. We found the room to be clean and well maintained. We havent stayed here since it was refurbished and you can see the difference. House keeping was every other day and did a fine job. The Rasta beach was where we spent most of our time. It has a great pool with sun loungers around and in it. The beach itself feels secluded with a nice view of the bay. The beach grill serves a good selection of very tasty food for lunch and the bar is well stocked. The main pool area was tidy with plenty of sun loungers in and around the pool, shaded and unshaded. The main bar was well stocked and refreshed looking. We did not spend much time on the main beach, we feel since hammock cove had been built it takes some of the charm away from this beach. It is handy having the lazy pelican bar on the beach for drinks though. Breakfast at seabreeze had a good selection for everyone and the staff where always polite and friendly. Theodore greeted us most mornings with a smile and a great attitude with great service. We found the Portofino restaurant to be our favourite place to eat, great food and very friendly staff, especially Natasha I believe her name was, always bubbly and great service. Sails and Tails we also enjoyed for lunch and dinner, again friendly staff and tasty food. Nicoles was lovely and worth the surcharge. The Wavy Wicket pub is a great addition to the resort with a good bar and a great atmosphere, we visited it every night and sampled some of the snacks on offer here, again lovely food and service. David here was always friendly and made great drinks. We made use of the coffee shop every day, it can be busy depending on what time you visit but always good coffee! Overall the refurb this resort had awhile ago has helped to freshen it up and it is a lovely resort to visit and we would recommend it to anyone. You are only a short walk from long bay aswell if you wanted to visit the beach the Pineapple resort is on.
