Poor experience at Sea Breeze this week
michaelhE1254MK (United Kingdom) on Apr 19, 2025
Rooms and location good and we had a sea view. So disappointed with the attentiveness of staff other than Damian and Erica. Just a real lack of attention to detail. Pool Towels constantly unavailable. Even... though we booked as a 3 our room was set up For 2 , cups, glasses, towels etc even after we mentioned it to reception. Compared to our previous stay in Barbados at the Waves this was very 3 star. Most toilets in the family area didn’t have doors that locked. The beach team had no interest to find us beds or any urgency to get towels for the guests. The hotel needs to purchase at least another 50 sun beach beds as there is so much space available and this would avoid a Lot of guests not having a bed to use .Food overall was very good and housekeeping did keep our room revived to a high standard. Wine and beers were very limited, I don’t even mind paying a supplement but there was nothing we could upgrade to.. So we won’t be returning and my wife who has her own travel agency will not be recommending the Sea Breeze to her customers. Overall it needs managing far better , we never saw the General Manager in any of the restaurants, public areas checking if everything was ok. Such a shame as this venue could be amazing if run correctly.
Could be so much better

It's a long one but i feel we need to cover most things that we experienced. We arrived approx 8.30pm on a Sunday evening, checking in at reception was great and the drink we were given was most welcome, ...they gave the wifi password to the kids while we did the formalities. Room was great, we upgraded to a junior oceanfront suite before we came out which was lovely with superb views. We were told we had been booked in the mahogany lounge for dinner as there was a private function in AquaTerra. It was a seafood buffet but no seafood left and just to be told there was some chicken and mash so what was the problem, dried and hard that was the problem! This is not what we needed after such a long flight, after expressing our issue they begrudgingly brought out a bit more seafood, many guests were saying the same so it wasn't just us and not a good start. You have to book your evening meal the day before you want it, this is a huge problem for people who have just arrived as there are no spaces left so you just get told you have to eat in the buffet which is small and doesn't have a wide selection of food. You have to be booking your evening meal at pretty much 7.30 every morning for the following day otherwise you don't get we're you want to go if you leave it much later, we hated doing this, some mornings i would have liked to just go for breakfast then to the beach or even chilled on the balcony for a bit. There seemed to be a lot of people there but not enough facilities for everybody. There were so many big groups of people here, and it affected booking restaurants and getting sun beds as one person from the groups were reserving 8 to 10 beds by 6.30am-7am every day. There are signs up that says not to reserve beds but no one takes any notice and while we were on the beach one day they put another sign on the beach saying not to reserve but again made no difference so that forced us to get down earlier too, it needs to be enforced and towels taken away! We often saw people walking around looking for beds, there's nowhere near enough sun beds and they are all squashed together for some reason, and alot of the shades were broken, they definitely need more and spread out along the beach but they have lots of weddings here so that's probably why they don't spread them out further, would you like to be told to move your sunbed half way through the day, probably not! The Seaweed was horrendous!!!! Kids were crying- not ours, it was awful. It didn't help that at first they were just raking it back into the sea so it just got washed up again the following day, it was only after that that they started raking and burying it, especially as they had up and coming weddings to be held on the beach. The hotel did put on a bus for a couple of days to a near by beach-carlise bay, that was amazing but you had to buy food which was extortionate! There is a small kids pool which was obviously very busy because of the sea situation and a lap pool which instead of a small pool to be used for laps it was just an extension of the kids pool, there is a small adults pool over the other side of the hotel but if you have slightly older children but not old enough to leave on there own we had no choice but try and swim in the lap pool, not very successfully. The water is so choppy and rough here that my daughter just didn't go in, so if you want calm waters don't come here, it's actually the Altlantic sea not the caribbean sea like at Carlise bay which is blue and calm. I know it was the Easter holidays but there wasn't a day that went by that they didn't run out of something, there were never any beach towels till later in the day and then only a few, food items on the menu and even drinks. My kids aren't small but there were no treats for kids through out the day at all that they could go and get, no ice cream. Ice lollies were the only thing they had here and even them they ran out of one day and most days only had one to two flavors and you could only get them from 10am till about 5-5.30 as you can only get them from the flying fish, supposed to stay open till 6pm. Our opinion is that there not there yet as a family hotel. Drinks are all inclusive from 10am, food we would say is full board, its breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is an afternoon tea but who wants scones in 30 degree heat, didn't look great. Im not saying we want to constantly eat but after an early breakfast about 11 ish would be nice to grab something small or even just some nuts/crisps with a drink. Some staff members who do need a shout out are Marcia, best eggs ever, Maria at the bar, the manager of the Cerulean Arden, Erin from reception, a couple of the male waiters and the guys on the beach were great. The rest really did need some lessons in being polite to guests, we were polite and courteous but most were so short and rude and some just huffed, we just felt like an inconvenience for just asking for something even just for a lolly! There is a managers cocktail party a couple of days before the end of your stay basically to find out how your stay was but this should be done earlier on in the holiday as one thing we mentioned they actually implemented, we said they need child friendly desserts not salted caramel, rum and raisin and strawberry cheese cake ice cream ?? so 2 days before going home our son finally got to have his first dessert, vanilla ice cream! Management definitely wanted to know how they could be better but i think they don't see the day to day running on the floor. There are many people who go back to this hotel year after year and so sometimes maybe have rose tinted glasses i think, i would not dare share my view on there fan page the abuse i would get would be unreal. It just didn't match up to our expectations as we have visited there sister hotel the O2 a bit further up the coast which was stunning so that's we had expected here. The hotel itself is lovely but would we come here again? No, but i think if they could just improve on some things it could be a much better experience for new guests.
