Barbados yes, this resort, sadly no.

Check that your room cools down before you commit to it. Otherwise request a colder room. Several travellers including us had overly warm rooms. Barbados is a beautiful country with kind people. Restaurant staff was amazing with the exception of Collin’s where we were mostly met with coldness. If I return to Barbados it won’t be to this resort due to the hotel room cleanliness. I know with 100% certainly on at least one occasion the maid refolded several of our dirty towels that were left on the floor. After that we started to stain them to make it obvious. This is completely unsanitary! Felt like we had a new maid everyday, to be fair, one of them was amazing and went the extra mile but the rest didn’t. Room mostly felt dirty. Also it’s very obvious that they have a lack of bedding and towels across the resort - beach and room. Felt rationed. The signature room itself doesn’t have drawers for your clothing, only hangers.. And cubbies. Bathroom you only get two towels per day for two people. You can also request more. Room lacked luxurious feel and amenities. There’s a fridge that is empty always unless you go request drinks yourself and take them up. Even if you request to have it filled, they say they will daily, but never did. None of the doors in the room close properly including the front which is not ideal. The beach is not pristine but they will do theirs best to clean your area from seaweed. The ocean is rocky so bring water shoes otherwise you will be stepping on rocks the entire time. You will need to ask to have umbrellas set up so keep that in mind. The scenery is pretty, but small. This is a small resort which is fine. Makes getting around easier. Entertainment was mostly nightly singers. Food was amazing across the board. No coffee shop just a coffee station and it wasn’t the greatest quality or taste. Tasted very artificial. Loved Barbados, did not love the accommodations. Next time will choose wiser on where to stay.

Couples trip to Barbados

Overall we really liked Sugar Bay. It’s a smaller resort with less than 150 rooms. We are seasoned veterans to all inclusives in the Caribbean having gone to more than a dozen different resorts over the years. Staff - very friendly and helpful, we had good experiences with the front desk helping when an excursion transport that didn’t show, helpful bellman , very friendly waitstaff and bartenders. The water sport staff who set up umbrellas weren’t as polite, complaining about being overworked and telling us to go sit down and they’ll get to us. There’s a sign up for water sport staff to take you to a nearby beach to see the race horses run in the ocean, but they didn’t show so a front desk person took us. Food- only 2 sit down dinner restaurants (Asia and Steak) the food at both is very good but you can only go to each once without paying an additional fee. The steak restaurant lacks ventilation and so was a bit uncomfortable. However, the buffet is outstanding, better than any all inclusive we’ve ever been to. The selection was more limited than we are used to but the quality was much better and with a different theme each night the food varied. In the end we were fine with only 2 restaurants. There’s a self serve coffee machine available all day rather than a cafe which was disappointing for us big coffee drinkers. Room - we had a really nice signature pool view room that actually was situated near the Terrace pass through to the beach so had a partial beach view too. The square room was clean and looked recently updated, the bathroom was modern and had a strong overhead rain shower head. Our maid was great, kept our refrigerator stocked(only done on request and at no charge) and mopped the floor daily. Water- one large pool with a swim up bar was well cleaned every morning. Also a separate tiny kiddy pool. We prefer the beach but this was our biggest disappointment. The beachfront is a little more than a tenth of a mile long. The resort sits on the Atlantic side of the island, they built a rock wall maybe 75 yards out that acts as a wave breaker to calm the water which works well. However there was a lot of seaweed most days in the water and on the beach and they didn’t clean it off the beach, which was disappointing. We have been to other resorts that had staff out early every morning clearing any seaweed off the beach. Entertainment - Except for one night, the only entertainment is music. Once a week there's a carribean show.
