Normally happy with this hotel but not this stay

I am currently at this property for business, 2 nights, Concierge Level. When I got to my room yesterday I noticed some construction workers in the hall but didn't think anything of it. Was out of my room for most of the afternoon and evening so didn't hear any noise. This morning I work up to hammering. After an hour it progressed to hammering and drilling and I believe it is directly over my room. I looked out in the hall and they are also working on rooms on this floor, including one across the hall from me. I'm trying to do a few hours of work but it's very distracting and bothersome. Called the Front Desk to ask how long it was going on for and was told it would be all day till 4PM. I asked why I wasn't notified of this when I booked or at least when I checked in and she said I should have been told at check in (which I wasn't, and even if it was, it would be a bit late to try to move to another hotel). This unacceptable, especially for the price of the room. I come to Halifax several times a year and always stay here and enjoy it however, I'm very disappointed with this situation. I was asked if I want to move but I check out tomorrow so am not going to pack everything up and move for the last night. HINT - If you plan to stay here, make sure to ask if there is any construction going on while you will be here because they don't seem to advise people in advance. FYI, I am travelling with colleagues who are on this floor as well and they weren't advised either.

This hotel is in an excellent location, making it very convenient for guests. The service is consistently good, and the staff are exceptionally friendly. A special mention goes to Renata, whose outstanding service and superb hospitality truly stand out. She is a true asset to the team.

Lovely hotel, nice room with a view of the water. Next to the board walk so it's easy to get to downtown and all the attractions of Halifax. The staff wee all lovely and very helpful. We were given a free, very delicious, breakfast on the first morning which was a great bonus! Have stayed here before and will stay again net time I'm in Halifax.
Absolutely loved it!

I can’t find adequate words to describe just how good our stay was. Fabulous location, lovely, spacious and clean room and the coffee from Balancing Rock was some of the best I have ever had. Rishu on reception went above and beyond when he found out it was my birthday and Ingrid in the Harbourstone Pourhouse was great - knowledgeable and helpful with helpful menu recommendations. It is rare in this day and age to find hotel staff who are so welcoming and genuinely interested, so thank you very much. We literally cannot wait to come back, and have not stopped talking about our wonderful stay since we got back home. We will be booking with the Halifax Marriot again.
Kick off to 7-day NE Road Trip

My wife and spent two night here in September, 2024. A kickoff to a 7-day vacation throughout the northeastern United States and Canada. Hotel was in a great location, right on the harbor front and part of the Halifax riverfront that included several shops and restaurants. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, overall very quiet and we had a great view of the harbor. Hotel offered several amenities that included a small breakfast shop/cafe and we were able to meet our tour right outside the front door. We took advantage of their bar and restaurant which were very good. On the flip side. Service at the restaurant was a bit slow as they seem to be understaffed each time we went. The attendant at the coffee bar was incredibly rude regarding my card not going through. Come to find out it was his machine as several customers were having issues before and after me. He also copped an attitude for having to take American dollars. Overall, great place, great stay and we would certainly book there again.
