Nice but Dense
PandM0 (Seattle, Washington) on Dec 20, 2024
Beautiful modern hotel in Wailea. Nice entry and lobby, with expansive views of the grounds. Although rooms are small, they are expertly laid out to take advantage of every inch. But still very small for Maui and you feel cramped. Had an ocean view room which was nice with small but nice deck with decent view. Grounds are beautiful although really dense as the buildings are packed in. There are several pool areas, but again really packed in. Really enjoyed the morning yoga class as it’s done on a nice grassy area next to the ocean.
Andaz was a delight
marinakd2016 (Summit) on Dec 20, 2024
Our first time to Maui and we were really happy that we chose the Andaz. We walked around and peeked into the other resorts and kept saying that the Andaz was the best! We will be coming back. Our room with a terrace and view of the ocean was quiet, beautiful, the bed was super comfortable, pillows were exceptional, loved the big bathroom and plunge bathtub. I really enjoyed the layout of the room and also the hotel as well. All of the infinity pools were so pretty. And nice and warm and not crowded. Except for the Jacuzzi. I feel like they need another Jacuzzi. It was too crowded to go into at night. I would say the only thing I wasn’t happy with was the fitness room. It wasn’t big enough. It was very crowded and there was no place for someone to put a mat down and do floor exercises so that was my only disappointment. I’m not sure if there was a separate quiet yoga room I could’ve used? Also the breakfast buffet was really good but not extravagantly impressive compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at, but it had pretty much everything I wanted in a breakfast and I did enjoy everything that I had each day. Food was really delicious. Actually now having written that, I do appreciate the less extravagant breakfast buffet as it is better for the environment and most likely avoids unnecessary food waste and I know sustainability is a goal of the Andaz. I very much loved that we were given a water bottle when we checked in and refilled it at stations. That was genius and made me really appreciate the values of the hotel. in Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider gives unlimited Aquafina bottles to each guest and I can’t imagine the waste/expense/damage to the environment flying in probably millions of water bottles and then having to recycle them! So I take back my comment about the breakfast! It was perfect. I would rather there not be food wasted. We are already looking forward to our next visit, and breakfast.
