I recently visited this resort with my BEBW Family, Sisters, and Sorors. We all enjoyed our stay. The resort was very well kept and the staff was friendly and beyond helpful. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a top notch experience
Dreams Las Mareas—beautiful but rainy in summer.

We were unaware that it was the rainy season in Costa Rica. The first day, it rained 24 hours continuously. We did have sunny weather for 4 days we were there. Las Mareas is a beautiful property on the very edge of a rainforest. Monkeys were scarce but spotted a few times as well as lizards and beautiful birds. The pools are massive, lots of chairs. But on sunny days, people reserve them early. We had a family group of 11, so we were happy to learn the concierge would accept reservations for dinner starting at 8 am the same day. UVC members can reserve for the week, however they aren’t usually at their desk in the Preferred lounge, so we opted to use the concierge. Portofino, however, does not accept reservations at all, so you just wait for an opening. The Seaside Grill becomes a steakhouse at night and serves a respectable steak. Be aware path is not well lit getting there, which is close to the beach. Bring bug spray! Mosquitoes and other bugs are plentiful in this environment. The rooms are comfortable, and there is a curtain the separates bedroom from bathroom fixtures. There were a few parties that lasted into evening hours, so if you go to bed early, you might consider using a sound machine. We did and it helped quite a bit. We did a snorkeling boat trip and some of us did a 17 hour volcano, rainforest and hot springs trip. The latter was long because the trip to and from the resort was 3 hours each way. Plus, rain had caused down trees which made the trip even longer. We have been to many Dreams resorts and not sure we would return to this one. We live on the east coast so the journey to Costa Rica was long and involved the dreaded connections and layovers. Add to that the rain, the bugs and maybe not a good fit for us. If you love ecological environments and still want creature comforts, you will enjoy this resort and traveling about this country.
