Nice hotel the breakfast is terrible

alwaystravelling1973 (Los Angeles, California) on Sep 29, 2024

This hotel has a high turnover due to its location but they handle it really well. The hotel is well maintained, the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff are wonderful and attentive to detail. Sleep quality is good. There is a TGI Fridays in the hotel. The food is average at best. They burnt the over salted chicken tenders. The breakfast buffet is terrible. The range is lacking. The eggs were inedible. I saw a kid stick his finger in the yogurt, so I left and walked down the road to another hotel and got breakfast from their coffee shop. If you want something balanced and healthy, it won't be from here. Hotel is great, restaurant is a huge miss.

A good option for its location, but consider the additional parking fee to compare it fairly.

This is a very well located hotel, very near the Hollywood bowl, and conveniently near from Universal Studios Park, Downtown, Hollywood and Beverly hills. The rooms are clean and recently renovated, but as in most renewed hilton proprieties, they do not invest in carpentry renewal, which is old, with a bad look, and does not works properly . Also, they do not recognize your hhonors status, neither in the perks nor in the parking (all parking is made by a valet parking, at a high rate of 45 usd per night, which is almost 20% add on your daily rate). Personnel is generally very helpful, but not all of them are like that. Also, in our 5 day stay one elevator was out of service, which made the wait too long, and extremely inconvenient in peak hours (sometime you needed to wait three elevator turn, as it came already full from top floors. This was very annoying).

Great for Vacations!

Nice rooms. Great staff. Walking distance from Hollywood Blvd and Hollywood Bowl. The onsite restaurant is also really good and a good value. We stayed over Labor Day weekend, and even though the hotel was busy, we had a great nights sleep and excellent service.

Outstanding staff, value, location, and for the price point, amenities.

For context, my review comes from the perspective of someone who has stayed with the HGI Los Angeles/Hollywood for roughly 50 days over the course of the past 3 months. I travel for a living and spend over 50% of my time in hotels across the world. The biggest shout out regarding this property has to be for the entire front desk staff. Since the first day that I arrived for my first trip, every single employee was warm, welcoming, helpful when I needed assistance with anything, and communicative. The fact there are some negative reviews about this staff baffles me. Again, I am far from a novice traveler, and this front desk staff is among the best in the business. Special shout outs for Sylvia, Juan, and Claudia, who I encountered the most and were always there with a smile to welcome me back. This hotel is valet only, which while not ideal, is extremely common in Los Angeles and at almost all hotels. HUGE shoutout to Mohammad, one of the daytime valets who is always upbeat, engaging on a personal level, and happy to help. Service is prompt and there is never a long wait to get your car at any time of the day. For a more budget friendly hotel, amenities are solid. The pool complex far outkicks its price range, with a great view and plenty of comfortable seating. While the gym could be a bit larger, it has everything you need to get a decent workout in including a Peloton. I'd like to see more machines but space doesn't allow for that, but there is a full rack of dumbbells and medicine balls, along with cardio equipment. The hotel is walking distance to Runyon Canyon, which is a must do if you want to get a hike in. Status is recognized at this hotel, and you will receive a daily F&B credit for Gold/Diamond. Market is well stocked, and F&B can be used at the TGI Fridays, though I have not eaten there. There are plenty of restaurants and markets within walking distance of the hotel, and I'd highly suggest Shintoro for sushi right across the street if you do not want to venture far. Most importantly, rooms are comfortable, well appointed, with large bathrooms and walk in showers. DAILY HOUSEKEEPING without needing to request, which for me, is enormous. This isn't the case at all hotels in this category, and it is much appreciated. Again - this review comes from the perspective of someone that spends 150+ nights in hotels per year. All things considered, this is among the best business class hotels that I've stayed in. A hotel is only as good as its staff, and there has not been a single employee that I've encountered here that is not worth of recognition. Apologies for those names that I missed, just know that I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Motel Hilton

When I first showed up I was confronted by valet to start my wife and I first outing since having our newborn. There was a slightly older gentleman that asked us are we waiting or have we been helped and we answered we are waiting. His then goes with his co worker and they start laughing and leaving us to wait for 10 minutes. Then we finally get to the front desk and we are checking in with a nice gentleman but his colleague was just sitting next to him on the phone. I asked about valet since I was an Aim ridge member if there was a waive of some sort for it and they said no which was fine by me they ended up giving me a discount for it. The room was great I believe the best part of our stay was the housekeepers and how nice they were. For being an Aim bridge employee I was very upset on the service provided and how lack of hospitality there was.
