The Cove Atlantis complete review

Hearyou18 (New York City, New York) on May 31, 2025

My husband and I stayed at The Cove to celebrate our anniversary. We chose The Cove because it was upscale and looked a little quieter. We have never been to the Bahamas before. We booked our trip throu...gh Costco which turned out to be a very pleasant experience and they offered a great package which included everything (flights, room, taxes, gratuities and transfers). We booked the Lapis suite, which included access to the Lapis lounge. The Lapis lounge had breakfast, snacks, cocktails and dessert each day. It was more expensive, however we enjoyed the convenience of the breakfast and access to food and drinks all day. There is also a dedicated concierge if you need them. We really didn't take advantage, however they did help us out a few times. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Also very clean. Bathroom was great, with double sinks and separate tub and shower, as well as private toilet. Room was a little dated and needed a facelift, but we didn't really mind. There's a small balcony with chairs and the view was lovely of the ocean and pool. Bed was comfortable and shower was great. We were warned about construction noise, but honestly we never heard anything our whole stay. Room was very quiet. Housekeeping was outstanding. The ladies were so lovely, always asking if we were having a good time. They have a nice housekeeping feature where you push a button on the wall if you want housekeeping and another button if you don't want to be disturbed. I liked that so much. Adult pool was clean and upscale. You do have to line up for pool chairs if you are particular where you sit. Cushions are really great on the chairs. There are several pools so it's never crowded in that area. Pool drink/food service was spotty. They go around about 11 and take your orders. I would suggest you order at 11 if you want a drink or lunch because you won't see your food for a while. You also may not see the servers again. They seem to disappear. Drinks were good but there was one frozen drink that I had to send back because it tasted like gasoline. I never send anything back, so you know it had to be bad. However that was an isolated incident. Food was ok. Beach was nice. Not the same level of service as the pool, but there was a nice guy who set up our towels and chairs for us. No beach food/drink service. There is a place to get food right by the beach. I think that The Cove could spruce up this beach area and make it really nice. Nicer chairs and service. I think that the guests would really appreciate that. I will say that the pool area is not quiet. There's loud music and people are smoking and vaping and loud. If that's not your thing, the adjacent pool which is a family pool is more quiet, however chairs are broken on many that we tried. We enjoyed eating at Paranza and had 2 good meals there. We also went into the marina area and enjoyed Cafe Martinique. We did not think Seafire was up to par. We also tried the pizza which was meh. There is a nice shuttle bus that takes you around the resort, so that's convenient. Shopping was limited. Cove shops are very upscale. If you want to buy trinkets or lower priced souvenirs you won't find it at the Cove. I think 2 upscale shops are unnecessary. A more inexpensive shop would do very well there. There is a sundry shop at The Reef which is next door. As far as tipping goes, everyone has their hand out subtly. They never ask for a tip but they will quietly wait for one. We brought a ton of $5 bills and $10 bills because we expected this. The lady at the Cascades beach eatery actually was angry that we didn't leave enough tip the first day we arrived. We learned our lesson! LOL!! I always left housekeeping a tip each day, because I appreciated their work. As far as the airport transfers, it was a bit of a disaster. We had this booked through Costco and it was a shared transfer going back. We were picked up in a beat up van with no room for luggage. The van was pretty much full with luggage in the isles and seats when they came to pick us up. Driver was yelling and obviously very frustrated. This was through Bahamas Experience, so even if you have this included in your package, do yourself a favor and go through any other company! There were so many lovely companies at the airport with better vehicles. On a final note, we asked for a late check out because the check out time was 11 and our flight wasn't until 6. I requested a few days before and the concierge said it shouldn't be a problem. On our check out day, they then said they couldn't give us a late check out. So we left our room and sat in the lobby and walked around for a couple of hours before we left for the airport. We did notice that many other people with luggage checked out after 12. Not sure why we couldn't get a late check out. That left us with a sour feeling like they didn't have to be nice to us anymore because we were leaving. All in all it was a nice trip. There were things we liked and things that could have been improved. We don't think we would return.

Beware Marriott Bonvoy Members - And Others.

Dustin J (Dallas, Texas) on May 31, 2025

Unfortunately, our stay at this Marriott-affiliated property was frustrating from start to finish. Despite completing all check-in information, not all guests in our party were registered, causing an unnec...essary trip to the front desk just to get wristbands. The room was okay, but it wasn’t serviced on our last full day—even after we requested it. We ran out of toilet paper and twice lost water during crucial times, which made rinsing off sandy kids nearly impossible. Staff response was wildly inconsistent. Some were helpful, others were nowhere to be found when needed. Our request for a simple two-hour late checkout was flatly denied, despite our prior issues. After being told 1pm would be okay by one staff member, I got a call from a manager reversing that, warning of a $165/hour fee. No one mentioned the travel lounge until the very end of a tense call. The pool hours and dining availability were also miscommunicated. Marriott perks were non-existent unless you're an Ambassador member. Even a manager admitted the property shouldn’t carry the Marriott name if it won’t honor its brand standards. Individually, these issues might be forgivable—but together, they added up to an unenjoyable, overpriced stay we won’t repeat.

This place is AMAZING! So beautiful! Everyone is so nice and I felt so safe in a country that wasn’t my own. The hotel staff was great, they helped us with anything we needed and wanted, and were always sm...iling. The suites were so beautiful, clean, and spacious. 1000% will be back.

The Cove

Lerchcon911 on May 28, 2025

If you want adults only and a private pool with no kids this is the place. Great places to eat all within Atlantis. Pools everywhere. Lazy River. And just fun for the whole family. The casino is a plus as ...well. This place is so luxurious to say the least. Koi ponds are beautiful and sea life is well taken care of.
