Not a 5 star resort

Lorena B on Jul 20, 2024

We are currently staying at sandals Bahamas and I am extremely disappointed in everything starting from the rooms down to the service. We landed last night and got an outdated room, different from the one we booked. We had to wait until the morning to change rooms and they still gave us a small room when we booked an oversized suite. We waited over an hour to get luggage's to the new room. The service has been terrible everywhere besides water activities. Waiting hours for food at restaurants. Ordered room service and they dropped the food outside without notifying. By the time we got it the food was already cold. Went to dinner yesterday and the food gave my boyfriend an upset stomach. Every restaurant we have tried to book has not been available. I am extremely disappointed in how much we paid for this vacation for my birthday and how bad we have been enjoying it . Do not come here !!

Paradise in a nutshell

Long review warning: While I am sure that there are things that go wrong at times or don't work out exactly as you hope, we are definitely the type of people who are grateful for the opportunity to experience a beautiful place like Sandals Royal Bahamian and its staff. With that preface, let's get into some details. THE ROOM: We booked the East Side Beachfront Butler Honeymoon room. We were assigned to room 609 on the top floor. This level does not have a "roof" but a pergola type roof. Only downside to this roof is that when it rained our very comfy chairs got wet. Nothing a towel couldn't fix. The views are out of control. Best view we have ever had at any resort. The room was recently updated and the A/C was wonderful! Our housekeeping team was on point. Always had our morning and turndown service during the times we were gone and kept our fridge stocked. THE DREAM TEAM: I honestly do not have enough space to write about our butler dream team. It was a 2 butler team made up of Kevinson and Sterling. Two of the gentlest souls who were so incredibly patient and attentive to our needs. From the rose petals little touches to celebrate our anniversary, to the treats and countless special requests they fulfilled for us. They took the time to chat with us and just genuinely make sure we were happy. They have set a new bar in terms of what we hope to get with future butler stays. THE FOOD: In our minds, Sandals is always consistent with their food. Our top spot is always Soy (pending that they have one). For this resort, Tesoro earned the 2nd spot because of the antipasto bar alone! The food from Le Plume was fantastic and Butch's steakhouse is also always consistently good. Gordon's on the pier never disappoints with the views and the food is good. The food trucks were a totally nice and quick treat that were also very tasty. Aralia House in the private island was 11/10! Just fabulous lunch! THE BEACH: On property beaches as always were cleaned up daily as best as possible from any seaweed that came in. The water temperature was absolutely perfect and Mother nature cooperated by giving us fairly calm seas to enjoy the beach every day from arrival to departure day. THE PRIVATE ISLAND: We went twice and loved two different vibes on each day. First day we went adventuring in the back of the island where my husband got to follow a little nurse shark. We enjoyed the hammocks and the pool a bit. On our 2nd visit, we found a nice spot on the front of the island this time where it felt like we had the island to ourselves. We also had a massage on the island by Terrell and Kenya. They were wonderful. THE BAR TEAMS: I can go on and on about all the wonderful team members who made our experience super fun. In no particular order because they are all fab... The team at the Balmoral Club, Gregory at the East side pool, Mr. B's Niña Edelis, Hope and Syd (Traviesa), Queen's Pearl Phillip & Star making some amazing martinis -- and Samantha ensuring we were well taken care of. Thank you for the great drinks and the great times! WATER SPORTS: The entire team was always smiling and just fabulous. But Granville stood out with his incredible instructor skills! He gave my husband a great refresher sailing lesson and just a joy to interact with! The day we spent doing every water sport activity available (kayaking, water trikes, sailing) was something next level amazing because while we were on the trikes we actually got to see a sting ray jump out of the water not once but TWICE! Just next level memorable and awesome!! MISCELLANEOUS: The entertainment team was always keeping things hopping in the West Bay pool. Alrio and Captain Kirk took some amazing photos!!! The fire show was next level awesome and the only bummer was that we had to miss out of the lone karaoke day due to the Copa Mundial. While everyone is entitled to being disappointed/mad when things go wrong, or having a bad day, not feeling well, or anything of the like... It all comes down to expectation management. No place and no people will ever be perfect. But the teams at SRB work hard... I never encountered anyone who didn't smile or at least responded with a greeting after I smiled at them!

Disappointing. Not what I was expecting for the price.

During my recent stay at the resort, I experienced exceptional customer service that truly stood out. Emerald and Moesha from the Concierge services were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met with a smile. David from the Water Sports service was knowledgeable and made my time on the water both safe and enjoyable. Alvante, the swim-up bartender, mixed fantastic drinks and always had a friendly chat, making pool time even more enjoyable. Shakira, our waitress at the A la carte breakfast, provided excellent service every morning, ensuring a great start to each day. The food overall was below average, which was a bit disappointing. The night entertainment was fairly average, but the fire show was a spectacular exception and a highlight of the evenings. Despite some shortcomings, the outstanding service from the staff made my stay memorable.
