The most amazing resort

This resort is like a little slice of paradise! I’ve just come home from a 10 day stay at sunset at the palms and everything about it was amazing. I checked in online before arriving, and check in on arri...val took all of 5 minutes with a welcome drink ?? We were then taken to our room which is a treehouse style bungalow. These bungalows are amazing, nestled in the trees in which you can hear all of the wildlife at night - I think maybe tree frogs? The rooms are very spacious and clean with large bathrooms and a large walk in shower. Plenty of space for storage of clothes and putting your suitcases out of site. Each room comes equipped with mini fridge - which is restocked daily with water, coke and red stripe. An iron and ironing board, and a kettle with teas a coffees. The resort grounds itself were absolutely beautiful, well kept and springing to life with different varieties of plants and flowers. You can also take a tour with the gardeners. The beach if absolutely breathtaking, with crystal clears waters and white sand. We’d spend each morning there before the afternoon showers. Looking for the Stingrays and carbs. The small pool is amazing with a swim up bar and plenty of sun beds. All of the staff were absolutely amazing, very friendly and approachable. The food was great, different themes each night which made a nice change each day. We tried both of the Al Carte restaurants which were both good. I really liked the Chefs showcase which highlighted the younger upcoming chefs, which each of them doing a little something. The coconut curried shrimp will live in my dreams forever more. We booked YS falls and Black River excursion through the resort- which was a little costly and you didn’t get a lot of time at all at YS - we only got an hour there. When really you could’ve done a full day there alone. Was absolutely beautiful. The only downfall was our driver for the excursions- although he seemed nice enough and attentive and really knowledgeable. He let it all down my literally stamping on a cats head whilst we were eating our lunch. As you can imagine this put a massive black shadow over the excursion and everyone who was there with us, upsetting a number of guests. Admittedly this is no reflection to Sunset at the palms or the amazing staff there. We will definitely be back to our little slice of paradise at Sunset at the Palms.
Loved the Bungalows!

SATP resort was an amazing experience. We stayed for 2 weeks and as our vacation winded down, we wished it was even longer. From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing. The concierge staff was qui...ck and efficient checking us in - I would advise online check-in before arrival. Krystal and Banka were friendly and helpful amongst others whose names I unfortunately can't remember. Names on the nametags were way too small!! We got a tour of the grounds before we were brought to our bungalow. The bungalows are nestled amongst greenery and flowers. Now remember, these bungalows are "rustic" and in "nature" so if you are looking for modern hotel room, this is not your resort. We loved it! Yes, the rooms definitely need updating but we didn't spend time in the bungalow except to sleep and shower. If you need quiet to sleep, this is also not your resort. The first night we wondered if we would be able to sleep due to the frogs being so deafening loud but by the second night, it was rather soothing. Bungalows have shutters and screens rather than glass, sound proof windows. When the frogs stop, the birds start in the early morning. So here are some pros of SATP: -Friendly staff - shout out to the servers - Andrice, Jason, Claudette and Andre - above and beyond for service. Bartenders - Nadine and Brittney - so friendly and always made sure we had a drink. Chef Michael, along with his kitchen staff, went above and beyond for delicious food. -Buffet was delicious but also try the Chef's Showcase and Lotus Room for dinner. -We visited during rainy season so resort was very quiet. We loved that! Number of guests was minimal so we really got to know other guests. Met as strangers but left as friends. -Walking to the beach was not that far from the resort. Yes, you need to cross over a busy road but there are crossing guards that stop traffic to let you cross. -Beach was well taken care of and the lifeguards helped find a spot along with giving us towels and a table. -Landscaping is BEAUTIFUL! Yes, there are some mosquitos but the resort sprays every day to help eliminate as many as possible. -Pool - well maintained and quiet. We went to the beach in the morning, would eat lunch at the beach and then head back to the pool in the afternoon due to rain. -Bungalows are spread out so we rarely saw other guests walking on the paths. Here are some cons: -Due to the rain in the afternoons, our first bungalow had a leak in the roof. One of the pillows on the bed was soaked. I called the concierge and they quickly found us a bungalow right across from where we were staying. Things get fixed on Jamaica time so not sure how long it would have taken for it to get fixed. Next bungalow had glass and shutters on the windows but we could still hear the frogs and birds. We actually said we missed the screens and being able to hear them even more than we could. -Second bungalow had a few issues that we reported to the concierge. No hot water when we first arrived but they quickly sent someone to re-light the pilot light in the hot water heater. -The AC was a hit or miss. It would work during the day and then in the evening it would get an error code and shut off. We would turn it off and try restarting it but it would go on and off all night. It was also making weird clicking noises, which I recorded and showed to the concierge. We spent a week and a half with this problem. We talked to the concierge daily, showed them the video, picture of the error code and times it would happen. Concierge said they would contact maintenance but it was never fixed. We kept telling them it only happened at night so it was frustrating when we couldn't sleep due to the stuffiness and light blinking on the AC unit. -This bungalow (#101), seemed closer to the road and did have some loud traffic noise at night. We could hear motorcycles (and vehicles) which seemed to be going 100 mph early in the morning. Knowing that this is a rustic resort, we didn't let any of this ruin our vacation. Overall, we loved our stay at this resort and plan to return. I would suggest getting a deluxe bungalow so it is away from the road. Thank you SATP for a wonderful stay!
