Dated hotel. Horrible service, hating that barely works. A bathtub that has yellow stains. I could go on.

Checked in as a Diamond member with IHG to be told that my welcome amenity would be 600 points. I get 500 regardless, so an Extra 100. No breakfast, no other offer. No welcome gift. That’s fine whatever. Checked in to our room which was freezing. The heat barely worked the 2 nights we were here. Bathtub had yellow Stains in it, and the towels were old and tiny. After 9pm they won’t answer at the front desk on the phone, so j had to go to reception to ask for a second comforter. The next morning I called down asking for extra towels. They were going to be sent right up. But 25 minutes later I called again as they hadn’t been sent. In the end I went and found a room service trolley and helped myself to 3. After 2 nights we checked out to be told we’d been charged a $40 a night “service fee” after spending 220,000 IHG points for 2 nights. This hotel is the WORST Crowne plaza I’ve stayed in, and unless you need Times Square, avoid this palace like the plague.

Don't stay here!

Mindy E on Dec 11, 2024

First ever trip to NY and this hotel made me never want to go back. The standard rooms are not very big. We had friends staying next to us in a connecting room and for some reason, their vanity in the bathroom was twice the size of ours. Our outlets quit working in the bathroom, had to call maintenance. Out table lamp with connecting phone charger did not work, had to call maintenance. We had 4 people staying in a tiny room so therefore it was quite hot in our room. Come to find out they turn off all air in the hotel when its cold outside. It was literally like 75+ in our room. I can NOT sleep when I am hot. We had to open the window so then we could hear all the horns, sirens and partying going on in times square, so I got no sleep for four nights. You couldn't really hear all that commotion with the window closed but we had to get some air. It was not very clean. The bathtub had mold in it. I would highly recommend NOT staying here. For the price you pay per night, we should have had a much better experience!

Super basic & missing furniture in our room (know before you book)

Fred Andrew B on Dec 10, 2024

Basic and serviceable hotel in the most heavily touristy area of NYC. Biggest issue was missing furniture in the room. There was no chair for us to sit in and when I brought it to management’s attention then didn’t seem concerned & only offered to waive the $35 service fees. We saw a huge dumpster of old furniture in the garage so they were clearly replacing some furniture but why not mention up front or give an option to book a room that actually did have furniture.

Better options out there

AaronMandel (Saint Louis, Missouri) on Dec 07, 2024

We only were in town for a few days, which turned out to be fortunate. The room was hot. The windows were made to open, but were broken. The hvac did not seem to do much at all. Worse, the water in the shower was ice cold in the morning. Not luke warm, not tepid, ice cold. Nothing would remedy this issue. My understanding is the hotel is changing to a new owner in January. I can only guess this is why so little care has been taken to remedy some big issues. There are better options at this price point.

Bad hotel in a good location!

reiazm (Trinidad) on Dec 04, 2024

I’ve stayed at the Crowne plaza Times Square several times of the past 10 years. Unfortunately I don’t plan on staying here anymore. The hotel rooms have become very run down and dirty. The GOOD: Check in was smooth and easy, although there was a long line as it was thanksgiving weekend the staff was courteous and efficient. Location is perfect! Central to everything and easy to walk to most main attractions.i think the hotel relies on its location as it’s appeal so they don’t focus on upgrade or upkeep of the hotel. The NOT SO GOOD Housekeeping is very inconsistent. Somedays you get towels ( really small and worn out) somedays you don’t. You get coffee somedays, other days you don’t. Same with toiletries. Had to use conditioner as body wash since they gave us three conditioners and no body wash or shampoo. The TERRIBLE The washroom had black mold on the ceiling ( see pictures) and was very dingy with unfinished repairs. The bed is the WORST! There was a big depression on my side of the mattress that was at least a few inches lower than the rest of the bed. If you have any kind of back problems, DO NOT book here. It will literally kill your back and ruin your trip. If you don’t have back pain, you will after sleeping on this mattress. The walls are so thin and the noise is a lot. Even though we were on the 35th floor the street noise was still enough to wake you, but I expect that as it’s Times Square. The noise from the adjacent rooms was just ridiculous though. The adjacent room had toddlers and it was like if they were in the room with us. You can easily hear conversations in adjacent rooms. I dont remember it being an issue on previous stays so not sure what changed.
