Vacation/work stay

Kalrjp5 (Needham, Massachusetts) on Jul 20, 2024

Wow. It’s all I can say about this resort. I went for a work conference and took my family. The front desk staff (Esp Laura, not the manager) were superb. The room was great, the pool, view. Everything was amazing. The lazy river was a plus, the water slides were super fun. If you’re walking around the pool, be sure to wear sandals. The cement gets HOT. There are tubs of water to drink everywhere so bring a water bottle with you to refill. The pool staff were extremely friendly. The pool drinks were expensive but I figured they would be. The gym was huge and had everything. I got a manicure in Revive Spa with Rachel who was awesome. My 11 yr old son did a golf camp every morning which he loved- so thank you so the wildfire golf club staff. My husband and son did 9 holes one day and 18 another. After 3pm, kids under 12 (I believe is the age) are free. They were hot but they said the course was awesome. We walked a few times a mile down to the Desert Ridge Shops where there were tons of shops, restaurants, a target plus more. All of the Lyfts we took, the drivers were very friendly and happy to talk about Arizona. The valet and concierge at hotel were also awesome. I can’t say enough about this place except my son left his hat in the bathroom and he realized it on the way to the airport :( i guess that’s what happens when we have a flight at midnight to go home! Thank you to JW Marriott! We had a great time that we will never forget! Arizona will be my retirement place :)

Their staff is phenomenal!!!

I take my grandsons to their pool when they visit in the summer. We’ve been doing this the past couple years but this year they went above and beyond! They’ve expended their pool significantly which the boys LOVED but the cherry was the interaction my youngest has with one of their staff members, Andra. He was scared to go down the slides with his brothers and had gone to play in their lawn game area. He came back shorty after saying he had to go down the slides because Andra had a s’mores box waiting for him when he made it down. I dont know how she convinced him but he was so excited and spent the next couple hours going down every one! Sure enough, Andra had a s’mores box waiting for him. We had planned for a couple hours at their pool but it turned into a full day event as we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed diner at the 26 lounge, both were delicious! My grandsons haven’t stopped talking about it since. We will return soon for more family adventures!

Overall good - use to be great

Julie L (Irving, Texas) on Jun 09, 2024

Such a beautiful resort with excellent service. A huge portion of the resort has been renovated within the last two years. On the weekends there is live music in the bar - really a nice touch. Staff is outstanding and attentive. Unfortunately, they recently built a water park slide that completely ruins the view of the mountains by the spa area. Sad because it’s the opposite of zen.

Didn't know it was possible to relax with two small kids and our luggage missing!

erh1023 (Saint Simons Island, Georgia) on Jun 04, 2024

My husband and I stayed for three nights with our kids, 7 and 2, and my parents. Our flight was delayed and our bags went missing, so we got in late and exhausted with none of our belongings. The front desk was amazing - they already knew we were coming without our bags, so they had prepared a set of toiletries for each of us. Ou was warm and understanding, and she even upgraded us to a suite, which made sleeping without the CPAP and white noise machine in our checked bags much easier since we could put the snorer on the sleeper sofa and close the door. The next morning our bags showed up and we got to explore the beautiful grounds and the enormous (sometimes confusingly so) hotel. The Griffin Club was absolutely worth the upcharge - shoutout to Andrew in particular, who was so sweet to our kids and full of helpful information. The experience was on par with Ritz club lounges and we're hoping more JW hotels add these. The water park, while crowded during the day, was impressively clean, and we were able to find seats in the shade. The water slides are definitely pretty intense - my husband I weren't big fans, although my 7 year old couldn't get enough. Later in the evening, everyone totally leaves the pool complex to the extent that it looks like it's closed, but it actually stays open pretty late. We enjoyed some evening swims with entire pools to ourselves! Make sure to check out the garden that's tucked away behind the spa/fitness center - we saw hummingbirds everywhere and the kids enjoyed the smell-and-taste section. Overall a wonderful and surprisingly relaxing trip!

Nice hotel with manicured grounds.

ChrisTM864 on Jun 02, 2024

Beautiful and well manicured hotel grounds. Friendly service. Super racquet/pickleball club and nice fitness center. Griffin Club access was a plus. Friendly staff, most of the time. Some staff members didn’t acknowledge us. Location is very convenient to local freeways. Pool and water park is huge and has controlled access.
