Not pleased with stay

Pleased with the staff! Everyone we encountered was pleasant and professional. Carlos! I was not pleased with the facilities. Need lots of updating. Musty smells, plaster peeling, leaking, moldy. That bathtub is horrible. Dangerous to get in and out. No washcloths or handtowels even after numerous request. Poor cleaning by housekeepers. Long black hair of which neither I nor my husband have was never completely removed. Those awful dirty fake ferns at the beach bar need to be burned! The blackout curtin is full of holes. Most air conditioners at hotels are loud but this was especially! Patio not cleaned until last morning of stay. Let's just say I will not come back and would be embarrassed to recommend.

Stayed at this resort Nov 24-Dec 30/24 Food was ok buffet lined up in am between 830-10:30. Avoid this time ! Beach bar was good. Morning coffee cereal buns and yogurt there instead of Buffett. A la carts need reservations. Make asap at 9am or they are booked. The a la cart food was amazing but service was very poor. Waited half hour after seated for someone to come for drink selection, then 20 more minutes for order. They do not book alot of tables but seem to be short on staff. Once food came out it came fast (appy and meal together) but it was good. Italian restaurant had best service! Rooms are old and need work. Door lock was a challenge every time we wanted to go in and whole metal plate inside was detached from door. Door and frame looked like it had been kicked in at one time. Safe did not lock and also could be picked up and walked away with. Toilet leaked leaving puddle on floor every day. Water bottle cap in sink drain so water drained slowly. Brought these to attention at front desk and it took two days to fix the door. Other things were not touched. Front desk staff seemed to not care. Bell boys were great and more attentive than front desk staff. Having said that beds were very comfortable and rooms were cleaned daily but sometimes quite late while at dinner. The beach has a lot of loungers and getting one was not an issue. The staff in the beach bar are great! They work their butts off and are friendly and attentive. Downfall was there is no assigned smoking area so people sit on available loungers on beach and smoke right beside you. Then THROW THEIR CIGARETTE BUTTS RIGHT ON SAND. Some were not even put out. Therefore beach front is full of disgusting cigarette butts and they are never cleaned. The resort needs a designated smoking area with a spot to put their butts and they need to clean up the beachfront area. I would say this is a 3-3.5 star resort at best. Will not be back for the price we paid.
