The Krystal Grand… it’s for the girlies
Elizabeth M on Jun 05, 2025
The Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta had some of the friendliest staff around! Marco at the reservation desk helped us with dinner and made sure we were always taken care of! Alejandro and Alejandra at the Buf...fett had the mimosas flowing for breakfast! The bar staff was all around fantastic (ask Paulo about his bird impression). Adrian and Michel at the bar had us all week! As three solo female travelers this was a wonderful experience and would recommend!
Great time!

I had a wonderful time at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta! At breakfast, Alejandro was very kind and attentive 10/10 service. Paulo, Michelle, and Adrien at the bar were quick and made great drinks and conve...rsation! Marco at the front reservation desk was very nice when helping our group make reservations for dinner, he made the process very easy and made sure we made it to a tasty dinner. Room service and house keeping were great and made our stay very enjoyable. Overall, our stay was amazing and I would definitely come again!
Terrific for adults, superb adult pool, amazing food and drinks, not so good for kids and families needing shade

I write detailed reviews you can really use! We went as a couple (in our late 40s/50s) in May 2025. So while this review is mainly for adults, if you are planning to travel with kids there is also stuff in... here for you. Read on! OVERALL: Excellent resort. Well managed, caring staff, inclusive and welcoming (including for special needs travellers), the resort is very safe, superb food and dining options, great liquor that is NOT watered down (but the spirits are 30% not 40% and that's OK), and we had a superb week here. LAYOUT: there are two pools. The large adult pool is INCREDIBLE: it's an infinity pool overlooking the beach and sea, plenty of chairs, with umbrellas and palm trees for shade. And a great sea breeze. Paradise! They have all-day at-your-seat drinks service. We named the other pool (the main pool) the "diapers and ketchup pool" because it was rammed with kids and families. If you are a family wanting a lovely quiet pool, look somewhere else. Why? It was crazy busy, with no sea breeze and dangerously little shade due to a lack of umbrellas. I wouldn't take a young family here. Luckily most of the families with kids didn't venture to the adult pool area, but a few children came to the adult pool and weren't redirected back to family pool, even though there are signs saying you must be 18+ to be at the adult pool. BEACH: Very safe, and you can swim in the ocean too. There are beach loungers for guests to use. RESERVING CHAIRS: there is a policy of not being able to reserve chairs (e.g. with your towels) for more than 45 mins while you are away but this wasn't enforced, and some people were at the adult pool by 7am, placing towels on the prime chairs, and not returning until late morning. To the couple who brought their own towels and clipped them to the chairs at 7am, yes you lost 2 of your clips and you spent all day looking for them, I took them to wind you up, you got what you deserve! Management needs to do better to stop this. Talking of towels, half the time when we went to get towels, they said "We don't have any" so we gave up and just kept the same towels for a few days. The towel service was very poor. DINING: The buffet was phenomenal, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Forget the a la carte restaurants, the buffet has the best view of the beach and ocean, and the food is to die for. So much choice, and high quality too. There are all-day poolside snack bars too serving burgers, hot dogs and fries. That's why we called the main pool the "ketchup pool", there was dropped food everywhere! TIPPING: the staff here don't expect tips but they are very grateful for them. We were generous tippers and they looked after us exceptionally well, especially poolside with a never-ending supply of drinks all day! ENTERTAINMENT: there was an excellent quality varied show every evening, but better signage would have helped us to know what was coming up and where to find it. We missed the Michael Jackson tribute show because we didn't know it was happening. CHECK-IN: Maria Gonzalez checked us in. She was terrible. No instructions on how to find our room, how to book a la carte dinners, WiFi, how to get a porter, whether the tap water was filtered, in fact she told us precisely NOTHING. It was a terrible welcome. It took us days to find out there was a general store and pharmacy next to the resort. They turned out to be very useful too. Our tiny room in the Metza building (booked through WestJet Vacations) was horrific. No AC, no balcony, no view. More like a prison cell. So we went back to reception where Avelino (who was superb) helped us to find a better room in the Haramara building for which we had to pay an extra CAD $400 for the week. It was worth it. The rooms are well-built: concrete walls and floors mean you won't be disturbed by your neighbours. There is a fridge in every room and they stock it with a couple of beers, pop, and water. In this resort you can flush toilet paper down the toilet which is great. Not sure whether you can drink the tap water but we avoided it. WIFI: while we were here it was shockingly bad, unusable, so we ended up having to pay $16 per day each for roaming (but the cellular coverage at the resort was really poor too). So frustrating. To be fair I think they were upgrading the WiFi system because it got better by the end of the trip. However if you need to rely on WiFi during your trip, call ahead to ask whether they have fixed the problems that we had. BUCERIAS TOWN: An easy and safe 30 minute walk via a dedicated pathway or a CAD $7 Uber each way. Bucerias seemed to be an interesting and safe place to spend a few hours. Summary: when we return as a couple to Puerto Vallarta we WILL return to this resort for the superb adult pool, the amazing buffet, the drinks, the ocean view and the excellent staff. But if you have kids and you want relaxation and shade, there must be better places. Take a look at my pics of the huge main pool, you will see what I mean. Worst All-Inclusive Resort Ever!!! - Please do not book here.
Katherine L on May 26, 2025
Please, if you have teens and/or travel as a single woman, DO NOT book here. We had the most horrific experience with this hotel, especially the night manager that was mentioned in other reviews. It was so... bad, I am requesting a formal investigation from the parent company and local authorities. Please, please do not support this hotel. The management is beyond awful, the rooms are dated and need repair, the food is average at best and the service is awful from the front desk staff all the way through the resort including management.
