This resort was what we expected and more. This is our first time visiting the Dominican Republic and i must say it won’t be the last. The resort and the staff were amazing. Willie and Elisena at the bar were great! We had a great view and i’m glad

Terrible Stay

Passenger03564089754 on Aug 15, 2024

I stayed here from August 6 to August 11, and it was a nightmare. Check-in took nearly 2 hours, and there was no AC anywhere, making it unbearably hot. The room had broken AC, no hot water, a faulty iron, and the shower flooded the bathroom. Wi-Fi was terrible, and there were mosquitoes and cockroaches in the room. To make matters worse, it was so loud I couldn’t sleep. The food was awful with limited vegetarian options, and the front desk was unhelpful. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Avoid this hotel

Just got home from a 2 week stay at hotel impressive, and it's safe to say it wasn't very impressive... Our main concern is the lack of effort they seemed to show for the non-spanish speakers, specifically the English. My partner speaks a little Spanish and made the effort to learn more conversationally, but was often mocked to other Spanish speaking customers/staff at the bar. We read previous reviews regarding their dislike for the English, but unfortunately they were all correct. Service was poor throughout, both at the pool bars and lobby bar on an evening. Many times we was overlooked for other guests who just shove their way to the front and served immediately. On day 6 we met Freddy, who turned that problem around. Every night from then he ensured we were happy, we had great conversations and some good laughs. On one occasion, a storm hit the hotel and left us without any power. We had a restaurant booked in this time, and was stood waiting to be shown to the table for over 30 minutes, to then be told 20 minutes later after no service, that they wouldn't be serving food. The power was out for over 6 hours, no light, hot water or food. You'd think they would be more prepared seeing as the power outages happened often. My partner also left his bag in the room for the duration of the holiday, to find it upon the day of leaving in a mouldy state, and had to leave it behind! Housekeeping was poor, knocked everyday between 7-8am, to then not clean the room until gone 6pm some days! Some days it was left untouched, leaving us with no toilet roll or fresh towels until we had to find someone to replace them! Very inconvenient. The bed sheets smelt fusty and felt damp on a daily. We both experienced D+V multiple times, probably due to the mould and lack of hygiene in buffet. The buffet is open air lots of flies sat on food. The whole hotel is open air only air-con you will find is in your room which isn’t powerful. The pools lack of cleaning meant the algae was discolouring our clothes green, including my apple watch strap! The shop onsite is ridiculously overpriced, charging $24 for a plastic hand fan, $13 for a packet of crisps and $30 for sun cream, so please make sure you're prepared, although I hope by now you have taken our warning and looked elsewhere! Only positives were the fact the hotel surroundings were well maintained, beach included. Just a shame about the rooms and open air buffets. Entertainment was not great, definitely catered for Spanish. When introducing the activities the entertainers would speak in Spanish not translate. All music was Spanish, and very repetitive it got boring. The worst was the evenings as we just felt we stuck out like a saw thumb. One evening we just arrived and a female entertainer tried to get me up to dance I kindly said I didn’t want to as we had only just arrived and I hadn’t even had a drink yet and she then yelled at me rolled her eyes and told me to stay sat down in a horrible manor. Our favourite restaurant was the grill, fabulous food. However one evening a Spanish waitress was given to us, she sat us down didn’t speak a word. Refused to come and take our order or even ask us if we wanted a drink. I saw another guy say to her they need water, and she rolled her eyes sighed came over and before I could even ask for a proper drink she walked off. In the end we was waiting and waiting for our order to be taken I had to ask another waiter who was rushed off his feet whilst our original waitress was stood there doing nothing. And I am convinced this is because we are English. When we was eating our starter our main arrived almost 3 minutes later, we felt rushed and yet we still didn’t receive an alcoholic drink! They also tell you to keep your knife and fork you used for your starter… you don’t get another set?! There is only one bar on an evening, very small if you get there past 7.30 your stood up all night. Very crammed, dated and unorganised. Chips, coffee and ice cream were like gold dust nowhere to be seen. If you want to go premium it’s £500 to do so for an extra bar and pool. Not worth it in my opinion from what we had seen (we didn’t go premium) but it didn’t look anything special. The queue for the premium bar was ridiculous. It was easy enough to book the restaraunts but they were quite limited menus. Drinks were watered down especially the beer, no one knew how to pour a pint it was like water. Even though it is a beautiful place we are disappointed with our experience.
