Disappointing Stay – Renovations Didn’t Match Expectations
Burcin T (Atlanta, Georgia) on May 22, 2025
I stayed at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Québec City in January for two nights, booking two rooms—one for myself and one for a friend. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet the expectations I had when... choosing this hotel. I chose this hotel because I had read that it was undergoing renovations and that many rooms had already been updated. However, I was first checked into an older, unrenovated room with a strong unpleasant odor, stained furniture, and a bathroom that appeared unclean, likely due to buildup and age. The old carpeting added to the worn, uncomfortable feel of the room. The front desk staff were well trained and welcoming, and when I asked to be moved to a renovated room, they made the change promptly and professionally. The new room was certainly cleaner and more presentable, but still quite basic. The materials felt low quality, and the bathroom resembled that of a 1- or 2-star property, not what I would expect from the Delta by Marriott brand. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and unfortunately, that was the most disappointing part of the stay. The service was extremely slow, and the staff were not only unwelcoming but came across as almost rude. Their body language felt forced, and it was clear they weren’t interested in creating a warm guest experience. A smile or kind gesture would have gone a long way, but none was offered. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you’re getting a very good deal or have limited options. While the front desk team and renovated room were some improvements, the overall experience fell far below Marriott’s usual standard. It’s unfortunate because this hotel does a disservice to the beautiful and magical city of Québec, which has so much to offer and is absolutely worth the visit. The city deserves better representation than what this hotel currently provides.
NYC >>QUE.

My first time back to Quebec City in 39 years (1986), this time with my family. We drove 9 hours from Brooklyn, NY and was happy to arrive. I to work for Marriott (Westin Brand), and it was also nice to be... recognized as a Bonvoy Member. Our room number was 788, it had a good view of the St Lawrence River to. Some engineering issues… some wallpaper was missing in spots(left of the desk and in the bathroom). In the bathroom the light fixtures were rusted and there was no exhaust fan to inhale the steam, etc…The sink had the plug with a long chain, so this seems quite dated for me. There was no safe in the room to keep any valuables, ie passports, etc…. We came down for breakfast 2 days in a row and had the buffet, great service from the staff, didn’t catch any of their names, sorry. I did show them my Marriott F&B discount card and they gladly accepted it. Loved the heated pool, though just last Sunday, it didn’t as hot it was on Saturday. As in other reviews, yes you have to access 2 elevators to get to your room. We went snowtubing and when we arrived back to our room it hadn’t been serviced yet, it was too late as we went to the pool then had to get ready for dinner outside of the hotel. Thanks a much needed relaxing stay away from NYC.
Overpriced

The Delta in Quebec City has high class hotel prices while cutting corners that makes for a disappointing experience. First, upon our arrival in the room the heating had been left off so it was freezing i...n there. I turned on the heating, but due to poorly insulated windows it took several hours before it got comfortable and longer for the washroom. At night these windows let traffic noise in. On the other hand the TV doesn’t turn off. When you turn it off with the remote the image goes out, but once the lights are turned off it gives off a greyish glare all night, which is annoying. You want to call reception? Good luck. I tried a few times and I would get a busy dial tone. I tried to setup an alarm on the radio alarm clock (which is also outdated), but I never succeeded though I use to be a telecommunications technician. The room has no type C charger. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced as does the carpeting. The shower temperature varies greatly as if we were in the 1970s. The staff is very good and the room was generally clean. In the morning since the Pee-wee tournament was happening, the restaurant didn’t serve at the tables, but had a self-serve breakfast buffet… at 26$ (plus taxes) which is around 30$ per person for a self serve buffet! Parking is 25$ ( plus taxes) per night. In conclusion, I would say this hotel doesn’t live up to what is expected of such an establishment.
Great Location

Great location for exploring Quebec. Everything -- carnaval, old city, plains of abraham all within walking distance. Layout of the rooms/hallways makes it quiet! The hallways do show wear and tear, but... the rooms (we had connecting rooms) are good. Little noise from the street. We had the breakfast package--get to order off the "left side of the menu." Made starting the day easy. We had a car and no problems with the parking garage. Only two elevators for room floors 4 - 12. You wonder who designs these hotels with only two elevators for the room floors?!
Deceitful

Was told I was getting a micro wave at no cost given I'm a member but upon arrival, they advised me it was 20.00. The receptionist said that being a member does not change anything despite being otherwise.... I only came here because the PUR was nor available Never again
