Nice Place But Greedy Management

robertpV721EW on Nov 05, 2024

I wish I could say better things to say about this place. We went on the heels of the double hurricanes out of sentimental reasons. The Sirata was the first place to open up afterwards. Now, I understand that opening up after that disaster comes with its problems but what was abundantly clear to me was that the Sirata management was so desperate to resume its cash flow that its doors opened way before it was ready. The walls were still being replaced, nothing on the ground floor, like the indoor restaurant and the gym, were opened. There were signs at the beach saying that to get chairs, etc, to ask the non-existent attendant. Nobody knew how to open up umbrellas. The towels disappeared quickly. Etc. They got the pool cleaned out and put people in higher level rooms. I kinds felt like were were to supposed to feel lucky to be there. I could have gone to a 5 star in Jamaica. Now, then there are the problems with cleanliness. Our room clearly had not been checked before we got it. There was an under-counter fridge that didn’t fit under the counter so it sat out on the floor with its packing protective plastic cover peeling off, and the hallway rugs were beyond gross. That had nothing to do with the hurricanes. I also had the very distinct impression of less than stellar management. I’d say half of the front desk staff couldn’t resolve the simplest problem or make a tiny judgment. Not hired for brains but just to loom up rules. I also noticed what was clearly a manager going around doing bracelet checks at the pool - there were a couple of weddings there, believe it or not, and I guess he got titchy. I felt like he was a first time manager - panicked. I’ve NEVER actually seen a comprehensive bracelet check. Stupid. There ARE great things about this place. For the most part the staff is great and friendly, the footprint of the suite we had was enormous and the room sufficiently appointed and the overall facilities are decent for the price. Classy it ain’t.

Filthy Hotel - Should Still be Closed After the Hurricanes

Karen P (Florida) on Nov 04, 2024

This hotel should have NOT opened after the hurricanes before it cleaned and repaired more. We had an oceanfront queen deluxe room - $400/night. It wasn't worth $100 - except for the view. The resort was dirty in general and in total disrepair. Our room alone had several issues. The floors were NOT mopped and turned our feet black. There were no cleaning supplies for dishes - what little dishes there where - other rooms had them. There was construction right outside our room at 9:00 a.m. There were holes (mice - rodents - rot?) inside the lower kitchen cabinets, the molding around the all the floors were warped and filthy. I won't even mention the hallway rugs .... barf. The security was pretty much nonexistent. It was a total hands-off for them, responding to complaints at their leisure. The prisoners were definitely running the jail so to say. Like when an unleashed dog was jumping in the pool fetching over and over. Or when they let folks swim in the pool after hours (dangerous flipping, jumping, shouting, spitting in the pool and bushes, harassing the balcony guests). I would add pics of the uncleaned floors with the dirty washcloth and the dog swimming in the pool, but why bother. The health department needs to come in. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY UNTIL THIS HOTEL GETS THEIR CRAP TOGETHER.
