Great Resort

Resort is lovely. The Level is an upper crust experience. The beach is nice and it wasn’t very busy. The catamaran outing to the coral reef was my highlight! We also went to the local market in Varadero, which was interesting.Limoncello was amazing! Reynaldo was an excellent waiter! We loved the veg pizza, the spaghetti bolognese and risotto was fantastic. Thank you ??

Barbarita was an excellent maid for our room. Awesome cleaning of room #6303. Highly recommend Melia Las Americas. The food was great. Bar service excellent. The beach is amazing. All the staff is so helpful, friendly and amazing! You can’t go wrong staying here especially when you level up!
Disappointment.

Despite the diligent efforts of the regular staff, the resort remains in a state of disrepair and is undeniably a disgrace. Managerial incompetence can be observed in every aspect. Attention all a-la-carte diners: all restaurants share the same kitchen. Most definitely stay away from "the Cuban".
Best resort in Varadero.

I had the best time at this resort again. The a la carte restaurants are amazing. We had 2 short blackouts but the resort didn’t skip a beat. All the bars, restaurants, and entertainment areas are on a backup generator. The Cuban people really know how to keep things moving. The only thing I would recommend is to bring a flashlight for your room in case of a blackout, but rest assured the power will be restored quickly as they have new techniques to ensure the power gets back up and running as quickly as possible. As far as I’m concerned this is the best resort in Varadero. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful Time at Meliá Las Américas

We had another amazing stay at this resort in November 2024! The staff, as always, were fantastic. While some of the newer staff are still learning the ropes, many of them are doing a great job, and the experienced team continues to deliver excellent service. A few suggestions for improvement: • Smoking Areas: The designated smoking area is located right at the building’s entrance. Since everyone passes through this area, it may pose a health concern. I possibly developed a chest infection from this setup, so moving the smoking area further away from high-traffic zones would be beneficial for all guests. • Stair Safety: The stairs leading to the beach are stunning but create an optical illusion that makes it difficult to see the steps clearly, both during the day and at night. Adding reflective tape, glow-in-the-dark strips, or lights to differentiate the steps would greatly enhance safety. • Menu Accessibility: The absence of written menus in the restaurants creates challenges. Guests must photograph the menus displayed on the in-room television to review meal options, which can be inconvenient. This was especially problematic for me as I did not have mobile data, and while the resort provides new Wi-Fi, it can still be finicky in certain areas. Additionally, the QR codes used in the restaurants are not user-friendly for elderly guests or those without smartphones. Having printed menus available would greatly enhance the dining experience for all guests. • Nonalcoholic Beverages: The options for nonalcoholic beverages were disappointing. The piña colada mix, which is typically a staple mocktail, was pre-mixed with alcohol, leaving fewer choices for those who don’t drink. My husband, who does not consume alcohol, was stuck drinking San Francisco Sunrises for the entire trip. Offering a wider variety of nonalcoholic cocktails would improve the experience for guests who abstain. • Front Desk Staff: Upon arrival, we found the front desk staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful, which was disappointing compared to past visits. Staff at the front desk should create a warm and welcoming first impression, as this sets the tone for the stay. Activities and Entertainment: In the past, the resort offered a variety of beach activities like games and sports, which were a lot of fun for guests who don’t participate in volleyball or aqua gym. While I don’t mind if there are no prizes, these activities added a fun and engaging element for everyone. During this visit, there seemed to be fewer organized activities. The dance classes were enjoyable, with Adrienne and Jordi doing an amazing job engaging everyone and making the lessons a lot of fun. Iyse organized a cocktail-making lesson, which was great, but during my nine-day stay, that was the only activity offered. In the past, there were many more activities to participate in, and I usually enjoy taking part in all of them. Dining and Staff Highlights: The à la carte restaurants were enjoyable overall, though there were a few hiccups: • At Limoncello, the service was disappointing, and while the food was okay, the descriptions of the dishes were confusing, and the staff offered little guidance. • The white wine served at Sakura and Limoncello was notably poor, in contrast to the wine served at other restaurants, which was fine. That said, the staff across the resort made our stay exceptional: • Jose gave wonderful massages that helped us relax even more. • Margarita and Robaleeza were fabulous and attentive to our needs in the restaurant. • The beach staff were outstanding and always ready to assist when we asked for chairs (Raul, Lulu) • Lazarus, the omelet chef, and Jaclyn, the crêpe chef, were excellent and consistently delivered delicious food with a smile. • Angela in reservations deserves a special thank you for making us great reservations and ensuring our dining experiences were seamless. Lastly, we only met Anna Rose and Elizabeth toward the end of our trip, but they were absolutely wonderful and left a lasting impression (front desk) Despite a few minor issues, we had a great time. Special thanks to the incredible staff who greeted us with smiles and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We will definitely be returning to Meliá Las Américas!
