We Staycationed and as Locals with Insider Knowledge Can Highly Recommend
Shelly H (Victoria, Canada) on Jul 09, 2024
We did a staycation at this hotel and loved many things including service, online breakfast ordering (and the breakfasts were delicious and on-trend re: Food Network), views, location (as long-term locals we are in a good position to judge), and amenities. A special thank you to Justin who went above and beyond in helping us resolve a forgotten item situation. We will return!
Great location.

I want to preface this review by saying that I have stayed at dozens of Marriott properties around the globe. This hotel is a standout to some degree but also can be considered sub-par when compared to other Marriott properties. Let's start with the positives. The rooms were well appointed for towels and bathroom amenities. Our room had a small kitchenette that also was equipped with the basics (dishes, cups, microwave, hot water pot, and coffee maker.) There are hooks and a small closet (this is where they hide the ice bucket and wine glasses). Our room looked out to the grassy knoll where the Canda Day fireworks launched and that was very exciting and a bonus! There is an indoor pool and hot tub in the facility with a nice area outside for lounging. However, the hot tub had a green film across the inside ledge and that made me think it wasn't being cared for properly. (first negative) In addition, other than soda vending machines and a bar that stayed open past ten, there was no way to get a meal or quick snack that did not involve room service. This became problematic if you had guests sleeping in your room but someone in the party was looking for a quick meal without having to get a taxi to find a place open (and that would be very challenging in this city that seems to close up early.) The restaurant had a limited menu with more high-end selections (including during happy hour.). Security seemed very lax. One could simply walk into the hotel and onto an elevator without a key being needed to access the floors above the lobby. While this hotel. is overall very nice with a super location, it could use some improvements- especially with the pool area and security. The water taxi does stop at the hotel and there are lovely walking paths nearby.
