Buyer beware. Not Hilton standards!

Brian B on Apr 18, 2025

We just back from a weeklong stay here with 3 other families for spring break. I would sum up our vacation by saying we had a great time IN SPITE OF this hotel, rather than BECAUSE OF IT. We booked this be...cause it was a hilton property, and we trust the brand, but it is not close to Hilton standards. Here is our experience, good and bad, to be fair. Room When we first arrived, our room was small and underwhelming. We have 2 kids and the closet space and shelving was small. There were only 3 hangers in our closet. I requested more, both in person and through the online system. They never came although my online request was “completed”. This would become a theme for the week. Then an hour later as we were getting ready for dinner our toilet broke. It kept running and would not flush. Maintenance came up and their first solution involved glueing the broken piece together and using a hair dryer to dry the glue. Didn’t give me confidence but whatever. An hour later it still wasnt fixed so they left the room to find a replacement part. They did come back with a new part and it worked fine for the rest of the week. They did clean our room every day, but twice they only left us 1 clean towel. We called for more but nobody ever came and we ended up having to go to the front desk to complain, and ultimately had to track down cleaning lady on our own to get more. FOOD The food here was terrible and the food service was even worse. Eating in the main buffet is akin to eating in a mall food court. There is nobody to seat you, provide you silverware or pour your coffee and water. You have to stand around a dirty table to stake your claim to it, wait for the staff to clear it and wipe it down, then you can sit down and your completely on your own. It was a pain just to find silverware and napkins. They always seemed to be out of them. Same thing with plates. The food itself was edible but left alot to be desired. There were a few dishes that were popular but they ran out of them quickly. The most edible thing at breakfast was the omelette line but that took about 20 minutes because of the line. The fruit was decent sometimes, but rotten others. There were 16 of us and literally 12 people in our party got sick or had stomach issues at least once. I don’t think that is an accident. Pigeons are all over the place landing on the tables. Just an overall grossness to the whole place. RESTAURANTS There are dozens of bad reviews on this site about the disappointing experience and they are all true. The reservation system is horrible. You can’t get a reservation day of. You have to wait in line at 10AM to get a reservation for the following night. So basically we couldnt get a reservation until our 3rd night so we had to eat dinner in the gross buffet the first 2 nights. When we did get reservations it was only at 9PM. But what they dont tell you is their kitchens close at 9:30 so they rush you through your entire dinner. We ate at the Italian place our 3rd Night which was a joke because it’s the same place where you eat your cafeteria style lunch buffet by the pool. The portions were small but decent. The 4th night we ate at the Mexican restaurant. Again we had the 9PM reservation even though we were 4th in line the day before and the staff before couldnt explain why there were only 9PM reservations available with only 3 people ahead of us. We sat down at 9 and by 9:20 nobody had even come over to us to offer drinks. We had to get up and ask for service. When she finally came she was uncaring and inapologetic. The manager ended up having to come over to us and serve us. The food was pretty good when it finally came but the portions were very small. It felt rationed. Our last reservation at the sushit bar at 9;00. This was actually the food highlight of our trip. We had a large party of 16 and rather than take individual orders, the server made the decision to bring mutiple dishes out in bulk and feed us that way. That was a hit and the food was awesome. It was the only meal on property where we felt full, and well taken care of. That said, we suspected it was the unique effort and care of our individual server rather than their standard process. shout out to Alper, who made our week! The overall food options were terrible for an all inclusive. There is no room service. And there is literally nothing to eat from 5PM-7PM. When you eat lunch at 12-1, and you and your kids have had a full day of sun and swimming and dinner reservation isnt until 9, this leads to alot of cranky and hungry kids and adults. Most of the adults opted for the chicken nuggets and fries cafeteria style line out by the pool over the lunch buffet. What does that tell you? DRINKS The coffee bar was ok. I asked for a coffee with cream and several times the barista would not put cream in it but instead directed me to the packet of creamers at the bar. One of the servers would put cream in my coffee so that inconsistency was irritating. The bar service at the pool was slow but ok. About the same was other all inclusives. You kind of accept the fact that you’re going to be drinking warm beer out of small plastic cups all day. The beachside bar was good. There was never a line there and there was always 2 bartenders out there who made good mixed drinks. The downside was there were no servers by the pool or the beach. Literally every time you wanted a drink you had walk somewhere to go get it. They had a pour your own beer station there, which seemed like a good idea, but it was broken and out of service the whole time we were there. We had 2 off property excursions which were amazing so that made our vacation but Overall, it was disappointing for a Hilton property. Service was poor and not even close to the 4 star rated hotel as advertised. Take your family somewhere else.

Hotel is disappointing

Sunshine762418 on Apr 17, 2025

Check in is a disaster. It’s slow and unfriendly. Room was supposed to be ready at 4:00 pm and had to wait over an hour to get checked in. Hotel isn’t a 5 star hotel. It’s more like a 3 star hotel. The ho...tel is understaffed. Very disappointing. Will not book again.
