Beautiful view and resort with limited basic necessities.

Carrie D (Ashley) on May 28, 2025

Overall we had a good time for the week. It’s what you made of it. Food was plentiful with a variety of meats, salads, fruit and desserts. The service was excellent in the buffet. I didn’t try the restaura...nts. I was told it had less variety and slower service. The pool and beach area had the best staff members. It was cleaned everyday with pride and smile. Very friendly. The beach had plenty of chairs. Although, it was hard getting in and out of the ocean with a steep drop. The beach grill was a huge disappointment. The soda and beer tap is there but doesn’t work. The food was hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets and wings. There was no pizza. The staff there were very unfriendly. I never went back. The worst part of this hotel is the rooms. All I wanted was the basic necessities: clean towels, blankets, working safe, working shower and toilet paper. It was a nightmare. If you tipped, you got it. I did in the beginning but forgot one day. She gave us nothing. I refuse to tip on bad service and bad attitude. She cursed and yelled at a fellow coworker in front of my mom for giving us towels then yelled something to us. We refused to let her in our room. We had no towels, toilet paper and beer/soda for the last four days. We asked other staff or took off the cart to survive. lol. The room looked cleaned but our socks got flithy. The shower pressure was low with no hot water just warm. There was black mold in it. The blankets in the closet were dirty and had dead bugs on it. TG, we brought disinfectant wipes. We cleaned the room for the last four days ourselves. We left the room cleaner than when we arrived. The safe broke twice. We gave up and walked around with money, passports and valuables for four days. This is a 3 star resort that could be so much better with better management and attitudes. I won’t be back.

Another enjoyable stay at the Decameron

Meli W on May 26, 2025

This was the 2nd time I’ve stayed at the Decameron Resort in Montego Bay - the first was 10 years ago and several of the staff members remembered me and made a point to tell me. Which tells me at least a... couple things - they like their employer enough to stick around, and that they thoroughly enjoy making sure guests have a good time. These things make all the difference in choosing where to spend your money. And 10 years is a long time to recognize someone you saw once! I will say, not everything was 5 star quality, but everything that was far outweighed the bits and pieces I didn’t care for. Back when I stayed the first time, it was only 1 resort on Montego Beach. Shortly after I left, they opened the Cornwall Beach side, and this is where I stayed the second time around. It’s a true all-inclusive! While there are some amenities that will run you extra (massages, excursions, etc), the access to food, drinks, non-motor water sports, and community don’t disappoint. You also get unlimited access to both resorts, and the walkability makes it feel so much bigger and like you have so much more to explore and enjoy. Never got bored!! The food, while there is plenty to choose from and something for everyone, didn’t always hit quite right. Some things lacked seeming fresh, while others were right on the money. The Snack Bar could use some work, the service wasn’t always great, and we weren’t ever sure whether we should order at the counter or sit and wait for someone to come take our order. Also - fry those fries 2x please ?? need not soggy fries. Also, slap some mayo on those buns and grill them, the bread was so very dry. The drinks are a plenty, the bartenders are willing to mix up anything they’ve got for you. The frozen drinks were my favorite - too sweet to tell there’s any alcohol :) but you can get any and everything without alcohol! A huge plus for those of us who don’t always want to consume. The turn down service on the rooms was great, they always came through to make the beds and refresh the towels, and dropped off anything that was requested via the front desk. There’s warm water, we had great water pressure but I know that others in my party did not in there rooms. No complaints over here though! Only downside was that our room didn’t have a door, only a curtain, to the bathroom, but that was uncommon. Perhaps a recent oops that’s in queue to be fixed. To shout a few memorable people from our stay - Nadia from Jamrock Cafe always made a point to greet us and take amazing care of us, we sat in her section the most. So kind and inclusive - loved seeing her smile as we approached our tried and true table. Tameka from Jamrock Cafe was one of the staff members that made a point to tell me she recognized me - another incredible sweet crew member that carried the good and relaxed vibes - yah mon :) Samantha at the Towel Bar, she made me laaaaugh! Loved chatting with her, she’s great vibes. Somebody get that hut an AC unit, please!! Sweetness, the MC at the swim-up bar on the Montego side. Hysterical and wonderful - knows how to keep a group engaged. Ran a cutthroat game of trivia and tried like hell to teach us a new game and I don’t know if we ever succeeded LOL #naseberry #guinep #OYE Godfrey the supervisor at Jamrock went out of his way to service a table that would fit our entire party. We sat down knowing there was no service available (at the buffet so we served ourselves, but someone to bring drinks and replace cutlery if needed), but the dining room was so full we couldn’t fit all 8 of us so we sat outside the service area. He came and went above and beyond anyway!! Delmar at the water sports - another crew member that remembers crossing paths with me 10 years ago. Very kind and helpful! The man (whose name I am forgetting, I am so sorry) from the front desk who checked our hectic party in and checked us all out a week later! He had the patience of a saint and we are so grateful he made that entire process so easy for us. The security guards who made sure to stay on top of everyone coming and going from the resort - nothing, not even a fork, could get by any one of them. This is my go-to resort stay whenever I am visiting. I love that it’s all-inclusive, affordable, feels homey, accessible, luxurious, and fresh. It’s so close to the airport, making it so convenient. They have drivers there for anyone looking to venture off property, but it’s right on the Hip Strip. We walked back from Margaritaville and got to stop along the way to so many shops and things. So doable - nothing crazy. They have an accessible check-in at 3pm and a check out at 12pm meaning you get to enjoy your last morning on property. And if you treat your crew right, they might just let you stick around for a last lunch before hopping on a later flight. Thank you all for another memorable and enjoyable stay at the Decameron :)
