Good place, but a few issues

Day one, fixed the safe, but it stopped working again. We had to wait in the room for 2 hours for the maintenance worker to arrive. Between this and the long wait for check-in and the long wait for hotel a...rranged van, we lost most of the first day. Day thee, the maid walked into the room while my wife was in the shower. The Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. The toilet in the room did not flush well. Food took a while to arrive. We were not able to get reservations at the best restaurants in the hotel.

Great resort to stay at. Staff is very kind and helpful. Emmanuel Portorreal was so helpful and tried to make our experience as personal and fun as possible. They do a good job keeping the property well m...aintained. We had a very pleasant trip thanks to the great staff.

We had a nice vacation at the Barcelo Palace in Punta Cana, the site and the rooms are clean. The food is excellent and the restaurants a la carte were easily reserved, our only slight disappointment was t...he very slow service at the japanese restaurant in the main lobby, but the food was good. We had some rain during our stay and the pool towels change was overwhelmed, everything returned to normal the next day. The beach is clean. In high season the many transat chairs on the beach and pools are all occupied so better choose one before mid morning. We were all pleased with our choice. The hotel is within half an hour from the airport.

David Castillo was the best concierge we’ve ever had for a trip. Outstanding! Weather was beautiful, food was great, lots of things to do at the resort! On a related note, the airport is absolutely awes...ome compared to two years ago when it was under construction. Great time!
Awful food/rude staff

Sadly this was my second time there. Last time was in 2017. Food was awful then and awful this time. Reservations are difficult to get if you don’t have a premium room and even then. Bars didn’t always hav...e water bottles and when then did it was warm. After you wait forever everyone else ordering drinks. Bar tenders would ignore unless they seen cash in your hand to tip. No wait staff pool side so you had to wait in line at the bar. Buffets.. food was never hot. No description or ingredients of what it was. No flavor other than freezer burn taste or salt. Staff was not friendly. I was surprised that 90 precent of the staff spoke no English. Not even the basics. We felt in most we encountered that this irritated them. Several time at dinner staff had to be changed out due to language barrier. Overall appearance of resort was good. It is pretty but needs some basic maintenance like fresh coat of paint. Our room was average. Walls were stained and needed paint. Mirrors were spotted. TV didn’t work, but we weren’t there to watch TV. No wash cloths ever. Fridge didn’t get cold. 2 tiny bags of peanuts were the only snacks provided. Not typical of an all inclusive resort. Staff was very pushy to myself and others to give a google review in which they wanted to watch you while you filled it out. In 2017 I swore I would never go back however this was where my son wanted to go with his friends for his senior trip. For the money you are going to spend there are way better options.
