Beautiful hotel, so well kept. Amazing staff service. Food was fantastic. The hotel never seemed busy or over crowded as it is so well set out. It was like you were staying in your own little paradise in t...he jungle. Such a wonderful place to stay, would highly recommend staying there.

We've been to quite a few AIs and this is another great family or adults resort. Staff are amazing, warm and engaging. Some of our favourites were Eric and Luis at the main buffet, Eddy at the White Sands ...pool bar and Fanny at the main pool. These folks go above and beyond to take care of you and do it all with a smile. Many thanks to all the amazing staff taking care of every detail from the immaculately manicured grounds to the bathrooms. And one final shout-out to Ms. Poloma in customer experience who was able to book all of our a la cartes for us prior to our stay, no fumbling with the app, no standing in lines, she was an absolute god send!! We had a swimup and couldn't have been happier. Our girls loved their before and after supper swims. Obviously your enjoyment can be impacted by rude or noisy neighbors but we were very lucky and had others several suites down who you didn't even know were there, especially with the lush vegetation. We were in building 59 and would highly recommend as some of the others can be quite close to the walkways and don't feel as secluded. Do some research before you request a building. The buffet was great plenty to choose from and a wide selection of seafood. Be sure to leave Friday night for the buffet and go to the seafood gala, it was quite impressive scallops, mussels, oysters, lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, cocktail shrimp, sea bass, tuna, tilapia and probably some I've forgot. A la cartes were all good as well with our favorite being Gran Tortuga, Mikado Teppenyaki and Dolce Vita. My only small food complaint was there weren't chicken wings at the buffet and the room service menu could offer some more selection, very minor!! One of the best surprises was being able to find chairs at the pool. On the first morning at 9am we immediately noticed there were quite a few prime chair spots left around the main pool and even more around the pool with the swimup. This was amazing to us, we are more familiar with competing to see who can get up the earliest...At other spots I've often got up at 5am to get our chairs and went back to bed until a decent time. At Akumal as long as you were up and around by 9 you could find a great spot. And one evening we figured out why, they stack most chairs every night and only set them back out in the morning, genius, absolutely genius!!!! The beach certainly isn't great but they do a nice job removing the seaweed and have a nice breakwater to create some calm conditions even on a windy day. For us the beach is not a must have so we were more than pleased. Just don't expect Bavaro Beach and you will be pleasantly surprised. The Hacienda was another great spot and the only place to buy all your souvenirs and anything else under the sun. Don't get caught buying trinkets in the lobby, everything there is a fraction of the price for the same bracelet, magnet or t shirt. Although we didn't get to the Mexican party we heard it was well worth the price for an evening of entertainment. Overall we would go back in a heartbeat and hope to do so!
