Please note the following refurbishment schedule of the Princess hotels in Mexico, Grand Sunset Princess and Grand Riviera Princess.
To facilitate the work, the refurbishment of the resorts will be carried out in two phases.
Work will commence in the first week of May 2025 at the Grand Sunset Princess, with phased renovations of common areas and restaurants, concluding by December 20, 2025.
Following this, and with the common areas and restaurants already renovated, the second phase will begin with refurbishments at the Grand Riviera Princess and Princess Family Club Riviera, scheduled for completion by April 30, 2026, ensuring all improvements are fully operational for Summer 2026.
The project includes a complete overhaul of all rooms, restaurants, and various common areas of the complex.
The work will be conducted to ensure there is no impact on service quality or guest comfort during these periods. Fortunately, due to the structural characteristics of the complex, guests will not be inconvenienced by the renovations.
Overview
The Grand Riviera Princess in Riviera Maya has one of the best beachfront locations in the area, allowing guests a comfortable and unique way of enjoying the fine sand and clear waters. This spacious resort offers something for the entire family from its incredible beach to eight pools to extensive dining options and spacious accommodations. Guests staying at the Grand Riviera Princess have full access to the neighboring Grand Sunset Princess.

Good times over St Patricks Day

I don't know what several of the negative reviews I read were talking about. About the only things that I could make up to complain about would be the buffet wasn't incredible but didn't care much as the d...rinks kept a flowing without being on an empty stomach. Enjoyed the steak house and Italian a la carte restaurants. And after a little too much to drink on St Paddy's Day your security staff were professional and helpful in getting me back to my room through the maze in the dark (which was still difficult to figure out while sober might I add) Did find it confusing when some folks and I had wandered a little too far and our wristbands were not eligible for the same drinking benefits across the resorts. Sports bar was cool too but missed having the casino to play in. But overall had a great time and enjoyed my week there
Air conditioning doesn't work

The air conditioning is broke. I had 2 laguna villa suites and the coolest my room would get is 23 c. The other room 24c. That's about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity in the room was the same as outsi...de, near 100%. The sheets felt damp like you were camping in a tent. We called maintenance to address the issue. They did some testing and said the room should be able to cool to 19c but that there was a pump in the cooling tower that wasn't working. They would have to shut the cooling tower down to repair it . I was shown 7 other rooms, 5 laguna villas and 2 platinum rooms after that sweat drenched first night and there were all the same temperature as ours. We prefer our rooms to be around 70 f with less than 100% humidity. This is our second time at this resort. The first time was about 10 years ago and it was fine. Overall, the service is good, the food is average except for the sports bar which was terrible. We've been to riviera maya resorts close to 20 times and haven't had a room this bad. Take it from a well seasoned traveler (airline pilot) don't book this resort until they repair the ac unless you like a warm humid room. March 24-28 2025. We booked thru expedia and they were going to contact the property, get a refund for the unused portion of our stay and rebook us at another resort. Maintenance thought they could fix the issue and we wanted to give them the opportunity to, but by the time they gave up we only had a couple days left. Expedia always takes good care of me (platinum) and were willing to do whatever it took. The resort however, had no answers to the issue.
