Don’t go and put yourself through what we have been through

We booked this holiday through British Airways and we are so happy we did as you will understand once you have read this review. We had booked for 28 nights. The rooms straight off were not what we expected from the website and what we had been lead to believe. No jacuzzi , was told it was two storey with balcony etc. what we got was lower room single storey. We immediately asked about changing but fell upon deaf ears only if we paid more money. After about a week we decided after much struggle with talking to the manager when she could be found, our concierge, guest services, desk manager to upgrade our last week to the presidential suite at the cost of £2300.00. This was paid after 3-4 days as we were constantly chased by staff to pay immediately. Day 1 -11 we had many complaints, room service issues , they don’t do toast apparently even though we had day before at breakfast time , after ordering a bottle of wine was told we could not order any more , no bottle opener for wine had to go to reception to be told go back to room and wait for someone to come and open, all evening meals bookings had to be done through your own concierge which when you got to restaurant they don’t know who you are and not there fault it must be your concierge. So no food tonight. Please bear in mind these are the restaurants within the hotel. Air con not working in some restaurants absolutely unbearable. Now more serious things Mexico is non smoking everywhere by law but as is Mexico all is corrupt. The police are accompanied by marines on quad bikes up and down beach. Whilst we were there someone was kidnapped hotel down , drugs washed up on beach. We were in the resort the place nearby out of resort is 5th avenue a place we had been told by many not to visit after dark. So yes we smoke but was also told by staff when quiet you can smoke outside the restaurants especially the one downstairs, didn’t seem to be a problem others where doing it we even discussed our presidential suite to Sandra the manager whilst enjoying a Marlboro Gold. However one night guards and snatched from our hands and was told if caught again would take us outside the hotel gates and sort us out. It also apparent that some guests were given preferential treatment in many ways. I really could carry on about this place but don’t see why I should give them my time . Day 12 we made another complaint this time however 10 minutes later we was greeted by Sandra the manager and 3 security guards. We was told to pack our bags within 10 minutes otherwise the police would be called , we was totally blown away by this , we asked why only to be told confidential even though about us. We asked for longer say 30 minutes But was refused so we packed 28 days stuff and was then escorted from the hotel to the gates outside . We got our own taxi and they all stood there until we left. We did t know what to do other than head for 5th avenue where we managed to find hotel for two nights and also managed to book another hotel in the resort area ironically next to the one we was evicted from which later we found is the same company. We are lucky we could afford to book somewhere else but what if you could not , stranded in Mexico with no accommodation. It took us 6 weeks to get 75% money owed back to us through B A and a further 4 months for the upgrade that we never received, I can assure you without the help of B A and their support we would have received nothing. They have never answered why we was evicted after some 10-15 emails I sent them and even now after I have been paid back no answer and hence why I’m only writing this trip advisor now as I’ve got back all I will be . My advise for your own safety do not book this hotel , do not put yourself basically in danger of being threatened and intimidated they do not care one bit for customers or as well in some cases there own staff

This was our second time here. We love the location. Love Breakfast on the beach overlooking the ocean. Friendly staff, and clean property and rooms. Good food such a great value. Special thanks to Maria our concierge villa 25, for meeting our requests for dinner reservations and answering any other questions we had during our stay. She was very friendly.
