Please note the following refurbishment schedule of the Princess hotels in Mexico, Grand Sunset Princess and Grand Riviera Princess.
To facilitate the work, the refurbishment of the resorts will be carried out in two phases.
Work will commence in the first week of May 2025 at the Grand Sunset Princess, with phased renovations of common areas and restaurants, concluding by December 20, 2025.
Following this, and with the common areas and restaurants already renovated, the second phase will begin with refurbishments at the Grand Riviera Princess and Princess Family Club Riviera, scheduled for completion by April 30, 2026, ensuring all improvements are fully operational for Summer 2026.
The project includes a complete overhaul of all rooms, restaurants, and various common areas of the complex.
The work will be conducted to ensure there is no impact on service quality or guest comfort during these periods. Fortunately, due to the structural characteristics of the complex, guests will not be inconvenienced by the renovations.
Overview
The Grand Riviera Princess in Riviera Maya has one of the best beachfront locations in the area, allowing guests a comfortable and unique way of enjoying the fine sand and clear waters. This spacious resort offers something for the entire family from its incredible beach to eight pools to extensive dining options and spacious accommodations. Guests staying at the Grand Riviera Princess have full access to the neighboring Grand Sunset Princess.

The resort was very spacious. Beach was very nice. The evening entertainment was the same as it was last time i was here. We had 2 teenagers with us. I found there was not enough activities to keep them busy except beach volleyball which they really enjoyed and made alot of friends. But there are these little critters that want to grab your food from you. There are so many and they are all over the place. I did not like that. They even go through the garbage bins cuz the holes are large enough for them to jump in and out of the cans. It is very hard to book the evening restaurants. Food is not that good anymore in the buffets. I came here before covid and food was great then. Food not fresh. Only 1 live station to make eggs in morning. Same type of food and hot stuff is cold. My husband was complaining the juice was watered down and too sugary. And theres a guy who comes around with the drinks for your fridge. He knocks on the door and 2 mins later opens the door. We were still in bed at 9 am. What is the use of locking the door. I want my privacy. Spend your money somewhere else. I will never come here again.
The best resort!

This resort is amazing! I stayed for 11 nights and had the best time, I didn’t want to leave! All of the staff are really kind, friendly and quick to offer assistance. I’m usually a traveller who will visit a place once and then move on to somewhere else, however this place was different! I will 100% be back to pay the princess another visit. The resort is super well cared for and maintained, whilst there I saw the pools being cleaned thoroughly, the paths being moped, the statues being repainted, the water fountains cleaned, beach cleaned off seaweed and the gardeners planting new plants. Booking excursions from the resort was super easy and the shuttle into 5th avenue was amazing and super convenient. I also left my sliders at the pool one day and was sure I wouldn’t get them back (my own fault entirely!) but the lovely staff had found them and kept them safe for me and bought them to me when I asked if they had been found! Amazing! The entertainment was great from bingo, the foam party, the pool party, the silent disco and the theatre show. I think I watched the theatre show every night I was on site and every time they took my breath away! However I think my favourites were the Neon Show & the Michael Jackson one but they were all amazing! It was nice to see small changes from week to week too - ie. I watched the neon show twice and some of the acts between the dancers were different which was nice as I was debating whether to go for the 2nd neon show while I was there but it was amazing and kept me entertained seeing the slight variety of acts in the middle! The cocktails were amazing and it was amazing to see they could also make most of them without alcohol for children/people who don’t drink. Service was always quick when going to the bar and there was also often a server taking orders around the pool/the lobby which took a little longer however this was not a service I was expecting as didn’t realise this was something the resort offered so was extremely grateful to have drinks bought over to me! The rooms are huge & there’s plenty of space and all of the balcony’s seemed to have a nice view. The pools are super and there is areas suitable for children, people who just want to relax, families, and people who want to party! It was lovely to have different pools to meet whatever you was feeling on the day. I also tried two of the A La Carte restaurants whilst there (Mamma Mia - Italian, la vaqueria - steak) and both times service was super and efficient! I visited mamma Mia twice and the steak house three times, every time was lovely however my second visit to the steak house the steak was cooked to perfection and I was left longing for more! It was the best steak I had all week but they were all lovely. Even the buffet food was lovely most days my favourite being breakfast at the snack riviera which was always well stocked and fresh. The taco cart was my favourite for lunch and I could have eaten them Tacos all day! Also super convenient being by the pool. The wildlife was amazing and whilst on site I saw monkeys, deer, coati, iguanas, parrots, birds, cats and lizards. All in all it was the best holiday I’ve ever had and the nicest resort to stay at with kind, funny, entertaining and helpful staff! Looking forward to booking my next trip already.
