Incredible Experience!!!

We loved everything about this stay. The views and water are so beautiful!! The food was delicious everywhere…and the best part is that it’s all included of course!! The bar service was amazing and Diane, ...the bar manager, was the best ever!! She was very personable and we enjoyed chatting with her!!! If we could recommend one thing, the pillows needed slight work but with 3 I was able to sleep like a baby.
Rough Start , Really Terrible End with Theft Averted

Hello and Thank You for reading my review. It all started at check in and the lady that was checking us in was very cold and uncaring when I asked about being the same floor as our friends but not a deal b...reaker. Went our room and it looked nice when I went to use the shower and discovered that it wasn't adjustable and was broken .... I went to the Front Desk to see about getting it fixed waited 2 days and on the 3rd trip to the Front Desk I was told that no Hotel is Perfect ... I told him fix it or get me another room ... it was fixed. Then we come to the day before we are to leave to go home .... it was late in the afternoon and I forgot something in my room, upon entering my room there was worker inside our luggage that was on the bench open and she had towels in the luggage and her hands were under the towels .... I asked her what she was doing and she said she was there to drop off towels and I said I didn't order any .... I want to say up front my wife put her Purse in that Luggage with a small amount of money in it ( God only knows why ) .... she threw her hands up in the air and said her job was done and left the towels and left the the room ... I looked under the Towels to discover Money underneath the Towels .... 5 minutes later she knocked on the door with a sheet of paper and held it up and said these are the rooms I was to bring Towels to .... they were scribbled and couldn't make them out. I immediately went and spoke with the Resort Assistant Manager who at the time seemed very apologetic called Head of Security and we both went to my room where he took pictures and wrote down an incident report and said then he has to find who this was right away. We left to go home and a week later I emailed the resort Assistant Manager to see if it had been resolved as my friends wanted to return next year .... there was no reply. My Travel Agent emailed the same Assistant Manager and he never received a reply .... he emailed a contact he has at the Resort and receive no reply. Hence my call to Sonesta Head Quarters Customer Service and they made a case file and said the Resort has to respond to it within 5 days ... and their response in point form: We understand your concerns, especially regarding the March 28th incident involving a member of our housekeeping staff found in your room and near your personal belongings. According to the internal investigation and final incident report: You correctly reported that neither you nor your party requested extra towels. Upon returning to your room, you discovered new towels placed in your luggage, and your wife’s purse—which had been closed—was found open with money visibly displaced. You found $40 under a towel in your luggage, which you confirmed had originally been in the purse. Our team spoke with Ms. Agnes, who confirmed that the housekeeping staff had entered the wrong room and that no towel request had been made by the guest assigned to that room. The HK stated that she was embarrassed to admit that she had entered the wrong room, so blurted out the first thing she thought of. Housekeeping procedures, as explained by Ms. Agnes, do involve placing towels near stored luggage when space is limited; however, we acknowledge this does not justify the breach of privacy you experienced. Unfortunately, since there were no witnesses or security present during the incident itself, we are unable to conclusively determine whether the staff member accessed your personal items. This has been noted as a serious concern and is being reviewed further with our internal team. Kindly note that we always encourage guests to use the safe in the room to secure their valuables, as highlighted in the Guest Conduct Policy when checking in. We also regret the delay and lack of communication after you submitted your incident report, and we are addressing this internally to ensure that all guest concerns receive timely follow-up. Additionally, we sincerely apologize for the unresolved maintenance issue with the shower and for the unsatisfactory response from our front desk staff. Every guest deserves attentive and respectful service, and it’s clear we fell short of that standard during your visit. I don't know of any Resort that has their Security follow workers around room to room to make sure they aren't doing anything wrong !? They do have a Security Flaw .... 2 days prior to this event I noticed a room 2 doors down the door was ajar .... the Hotel knows that who enters the room and when with the digital Key .... if the door is left ajar they have no way of knowing who is coming and going. I need to make it known at no time did I ever request any monetary compensation. It is for these very reasons we will not be returning to Sonesta Maho.
Poor Customer Service

Stay away from this place!!! We booked our trip through Expedia and paid it in full prior to the trip. We gave our credit card on arrival as one does when you check in. After we departed, they charged our ...credit card for the entire stay ($6k). When we found the charge on our card, we reached out to Expedia and Sonesta. After 10 days of back and forth, we had a partial refund. We then had to reach out again and they gave us more of our money back but we are still not fully reimbursed. Apparently, while the credit card charge was sonesta or Expedia’s mistake we will not be reimbursed for the exchange rate differences or bank charges. How is this proper customer service??? If you stay here, be very careful as they may just put charges through on your card that you don’t expect and you will not be fully refunded!!!!
I made this last minute reservation through Delta Vacation and had a fantastic time. This was my 1st time to St. Maarten

I made this last minute reservation through Delta Vacation The hotel is in a great location. I had a great room on the 7th floor (748). I could see the planes coming in and landing. It was really nice dur...ing sunset. The hotel was damaged during the hurricane in 2017. It was gutted and completely rebuilt. The shame is that after only a few years the hotel is already run down. The hotel does not seem to be well maintained at all. Right next to the elevator on the 7th floor was a gummy bear. It was obvious to me that the floor was not being cleaned as the gummy bear was there the entire time of my stay. My room had a few problems. Being in the business, I do not understand why they are neglecting this resort. It's not cheap to stay here. I expected more. I did not have my room cleaned during my stay. The housekeeper was great and gave me all the towels I needed. My mini bar was refilled upon request. I used the spa once and enjoyed the sauna. The pool was nice. The pool bar service was good. It's a shame that the hotel doesn't enforce the rule about reserving chairs. A lot of people leave towels on the chairs and then leave. The beach area is nice and you can walk to Maho Beach. You can watch the planes land which is really cool. Hotel is not well maintained and dirty in some areas. No bathrobe or slippers. No laundry service. No room service. Food is mediocre and Service is slow Most of the staff is unfriendly and it seems they hate their jobs. Mahendra is the best and provides great service. Very friendly and always smiling. The Village Tavern is the best. Other than that no other employee really stood out. --- Restaurant Reviews Palms Grill: Great location overlooking the ocean and watching the planes come in. The food was okay. Nothing special. The service was good. --- Cantina Paradiso: This Mexican restaurant is only open at night. It shares a space with the Palms Grill, which serves lunch. The food is okay. The steak I had was very thin and therefore not medium rare. The service was good. I was able to sit close to the ocean, which was nice. Otherwise it was nothing special. --- Latitude Bar: Fun place to hang out at night. The drinks are great. Last night they had karaoke and it was so much fun. --- La Fontana: This is an Italian restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. I ate here twice. I must say I was disappointed with the food and service. The appetizer and soup were good. I had the beef carpaccio and the cream of kale soup both nights. These two dishes where really good. The 1st night I had the Chef's Special the Tuna Steak. I was not impressed with it at all. The tuna seems to be of low quality. Last night I tried the Milano Spaghetti with Meatballs. The pasta was cold and the meatballs did not taste good at all. I must say that the Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs is much better. Both nights Laurie was my server. Both nights the service was slow and it seemed to me that she did not enjoy her job at all. I left a $10 tip the first night and no tip the second night. Really disappointed in the restaurant experience. They should also offer a coffee or something with the dessert. --- The Village Tavern: This is a great restaurant and bar. Lots of fun at night. They have live music and also karaoke. The food is pretty good. The bartender Mehendra is awesome and makes great gin tonics. Ask him for the special secret drink. If you are staying at the Sonesta Resort, you must check this place out. --- Jing's Kitchen: This Restaurant is part of the Sonesta Resort. I had the Tuna Nigiri, Chicken Satay and Banana Tempura. The Food was a let down. The Nigiri was okay. The Chicken Satay was okay. The Peanut Sauce was terrible. The Desert was the best part of the Meal --- Overall you can not beat the location. Restaurants, Bars and shops right outside the Hotel. Next time I am coming here I will stay at the Point. It looked really nice when I walked the Lobby and from what I can see online. Fun place to visit and there is a lot to do on the Island I had a great time Thank You
Perfect Family Getaway – Again and Again

Just returned from our third consecutive year at Sonesta Maho with the family, and it never disappoints. Our kids, ages 7 and 8, had a blast—huge thanks to the amazing staff at the Kids Club who kept them ...entertained with fun and engaging activities every day. The rooms were consistently clean, the food was excellent as always, and every staff member we encountered was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Still one of our favorite places to stay! Highly recommend
