Very poor customer service

1 out of 5. Very poor service. No interest in customer service. We asked for a change of beer order when we first arrived ( before delivery) and were initially told we could not change from bottle beer A to B (no price difference)- manager approval was needed, poor start, then the food arrived - 2 people on full set of cutlery. Asked the waiters twice before it arrived 15-20 mins, by the time it came we had cold dishes. We asked for the bill 3 times before it arrived then declined the service charge- the waitress followed and harassed us to pay in a nearby shop. Utterly poor service.

Great value for your money. All staff was pleasant and helpful. Make sure you have cash for cabs and public transport.Tons of shopping around resort and in Philipsburg. Always something to keep you going back. Excursions at separate resort.
Solanyi in the Front desk saved our stay !

As we were not sure about our programme in SInt Maarten, we booked gradually our stay and ended up with 3 réservations of 2 nights. At check in, we brought up the fact that we had 3 réservations of 2 nights and that we would love to keep the same room given we are travelling with a toddler. Answer was not possible. Came in later on to check again, we ended up speaking with 3 différent front desk staff, they disappear for a few minutes and come back to say not possible. So checked out before noon and checked in again at 4pm for our second stay. I wrote an email to the General Manager explaining our situation, he did not botter answering. We décided to try again and request to keep the same room for the 4 remaining nights, luckily we met Solanyi who really took the time to check with her colleague and move things around to make it happen. We were very upset till we met Solanyi who was of a great help, she is the only light in all the front desk staff darkness. Other than that, the rooms are large and clean with great isolation that allows no sound in. The main buffet had good options, but cooked food is often very salty. Grilled fish options are very limited, always the same fish. Goid variété in the salade station. The spécialty restaurants food are OK. When you ask the staff for someting, you feel you bother them. The beach is beautiful although small, and is the attraction of many as close to the airport with the take off and landing flights show. Pool area is small and chairs get busy easily. For 250 EUR a night, the dominican republic hotels are honestly a better deal and the staff there is amazing ! Not sure would go back again to Sonesta.

This was my second trip to St Maarten and my second stay at the Sonesta Maho Beach. I stayed at the main resort in 2022 and had a great time. Great staff and the food was surprisingly good for an all inclusive. The pool area needed a little updating then, but it was still a great time. On my recent visit, I stayed at the adults only "Ocean Point" side of the resort (really nice!!), but spent a lot of time at the main resort pool. The main resort pool is now amazing!! The updating came out great! All of the staff throughout the resort go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. Special shout out to Michel the Bartender at the main resort pool. He rocks!!! And makes a good drink.. I plan on returning to the St Maarten in the spring and plan on staying at the Sonesta again. I want to stay at Ocean Point again, but wouldn't have an issue with staying at the main resort. It's worth a visit and I can't say enough good things about it.

This hotel was a well balanced experience...ideal for both business and pleasure. Clean/comfortable/ large rooms with great amenities and a great location. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Highest recognition to the lovely Carmen Peterson - Director of Rooms Division - such a professional and remarkable individual, who goes above and beyond to ensure her guests enjoy the best stay possible. I would recommend this hotel and the island by extension. It's seemingly safe...with so much entertaining and interesting stuff to be a part of...for any demographic. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
